Dry feet at Glen Affric SOL
Pleased to see the bridge that 71 Engr Regt constructed for us was used at last for today's SOL. The dry feet lasted all the way to the first control. Brilliant event - 12 controls on the Blue and I felt I was orienteering all the way. Eddie as Controller ensured there were no fence crossings (in fact there are no fences once you get up into the area)...

Seconded. Really enjoyed the planning and especially extending the courses for the 90 min EWT . Hopefully the planner has made it back by now - some of our controls were a long way away

Don't i know it? I got to one of them whilst checking and waking them up on Saturday to find I'd lost Ian's (the planner's) SI Card in the heather. All the way back to check all the controls to be awoken on Sunday morning, then back out to the far end with my SI Card to complete all the remoter ones. I hope Ali appreciated having them all woken up. It was amazing on Saturday when I was plodding round them it didn't feel worth it as they didn't seem slow, but on Sunday morning when running round them I really noticed the time delay.

Re: Dry feet at Glen Affric SOL
Thanks everyone. My weekend up from Berkshire was very enjoyable with the 'warm-up' event on Saturday and the SOL challenge at Affric on Sunday (also on the Blue). I was pleased to get round all the controls with some good navigation and some less so. I kept wondering if some of the worn routes that I was, at times, following were from the day or from last year's 6 Days. It was a great experience and worth the trip. It helped that I have a daughter living close by.

Hope you can return for the Culbin weekend on 29/30 Oct held by MOR, which is much closer to your daughter. There will be a Middle Distance on Sat (as well as the SOA junior Inter-Area relay) and Scottish O League on Sunday.

Thanks, I'll see what I can arrange - I would like to return to Culbin, another very challenging area.

Any chance of some routegadget for this event. I never made it up but had a Black Course entry (and now a map) but would be keen to see where folk went.
