I used to be in a triathlon club which was affiliated to England Athletics so I could be registered with England Athletics. I dropped membership as I started to do more orienteering but would like England Athletics registration again, e.g. for some cross-country races such as Northern Champs and Inter-Counties. My daughter also has the same problem.
It is only possible to register with England Athletics via an affiliated club. I don't really want to join a running club in which I wouldn't really participate.
We could affiliate our orienteering club, but interest in registration is likely to be low. Club affiliation fee is £100 per year. Individual registration is £13 per year.
I am wondering whether there is any interest in creating a virtual running club for orienteers affiliated with England Athletics. A general purpose such club already exists: http://www.uknetrunner.co.uk/ but having a club for orienteers would serve to advertise orienteering in race results etc.
Is anyone else interested?

Re: Virtual Running Club for Orienteers?
I've had similar thoughts in the past (I'm a bit surprised that O clubs dont do this) but I think most of the "runners" in our club are already established members of local running clubs.

Re: Virtual Running Club for Orienteers?
You could have joined the FRA, as they had a deal with EA that FRA members have 'associate' EA membership for the odd road/XC race. Alas no longer continued.
I find turning up to running events without club mates to talk to/race/support/be supported by, or train with in general, pretty boring, so I joined a club.
Conversely I'm pretty happy going to most O events without a club so maybe I should leave my O club(s)...

Re: Virtual Running Club for Orienteers?
Once upon a time...
Livingston AC served that purpose, with most speedy central-belt orienteer/runners joining. It was a "proper" athletics club, fielding strong teams in events which didn't clash with major O-races. Teams comprising people who would talk to/race/support/be supported by/train with each other
Arguably, it was the club with the strongest orienteers that the UK has ever seen, despite never contesting an O-race.
So maybe you should start a real club, not a virtual one?

I made an enquiry to join our local athletic club and was suggested to join jogging buddies.
