All seems a bit quiet around here so why not try the new Maprunner control description quiz.
Suggestions for enhancements welcome. I know it isn't great on phones yet. And it probably won't work on MIE's PC. And you will probably want a high score table.

Re: Control description quiz: sneak preview (!?)
I had two different pictorial descriptions being used for "platform". I got it right using the old "I've no idea what the **** that's on so it must be a platform" technique

Great!
Please can we have a "Review the ones I got wrong" function?
Also, how about a "How many can you get right in 30 seconds" option?

Excellent stuff! Should be built in to every Planning and Controlling course.
Agree with having a "review the ones wrong" feature too.
Perhaps it would be kinder to give all the official alternatives where these exist, e.g. "River, Stream, Watercourse" rather than just "River"? I guess most of us would regard symbol 3.4 as representing a stream and not a river, although the latter is correct.

I thought it was good too - but for the couple I'd got wrong, it would have been nice to see what the correct answer was (and maybe what the correct symbol was for the answer I gave).

Re: Control description quiz: sneak preview (!?)
New improved version now installed, incorporating most of the suggestions so far.
If you hover over the coloured icons you will see the correct answer: not a perfect solution but a reasonable start.
Two minutes is your target time for all 70 symbols with five answers per question.

Hmmm. 62 out of 70 in 188 seconds. Room for improvement!

I was over a minute slower than that on my first go, and that was with only four answers per question (although I was taking time to avoid careless mistakes). The coloured icons popping up in the revised version were initially distracting, and of course speed induced mistakes. Maintaining concentration (i.e. not "good, I got that one wrong last time by rushing for 'gully' when it was actually 'small gully'... er, what's this next one?") and recognising when to slow down are valuable lessons for the forest.
Well done!

Re: Control description quiz: sneak preview (!?)
Likewise - over a minute slower on the first attempt, with a few mistakes (including the odd silly one that I realised right away). Rather better on the reverse direction (text to symbol), 2.5 minutes with no mistakes.
Thanks for producing it.

Several appreciative comments from Moravian people after we shared it on Facebook - especially from the newer members. Thanks for creating it!

Nice training for TempO - we have to read descriptions at speed.
