The prize-giving for this year's UK Urban League will take place at the Brighton City race on Saturday 19 December. The Brighton details are currently rather sparse, but as usual it will be a mass-start night race and the planner informs me that this year it will focus on the best bit of the area (the Lanes and the sea-front). It's a long journey for many but it's great fun and Brighton deserves to be in the UKUL at least once.
There are Ultrasport vouchers for the category winners, and thanks to Ian Kevan's generosity there's an extra Ultrasport voucher for the closest runner-up -- provided that it's not me.
The Urban League bricks are slowly being assembled; if you hold one and won't be attending the race then please think about how you're going to get it to Brighton. I'll be at the JROS weekend at Hawkshead on 28-29 November so your junior regional squad may provide a good delivery route.

Re: UK Urban League 2015 - final race and prize-giving
Many categories are decided but two could yet see changes at the top.
Young Juniors: Michael Paterson (CLYDE) and Sarah Darley (GO, and taking over from sister Aimee) are the winners.
Juniors: River Edis-Smith (MDOC) leads, but will probably be overtaken by one or both of Adam Conway (GO) and Alfie Bullus (OD). Only Adam has so far entered Brighton. Imogen Wilson (LEI) has been pushed hard all year by Aimee Darley but can't now be overtaken.
Open: Leon Foster (AIRE) retains the men's trophy and Rachel Potter (BOK) wins the women's, both with big leads.
Veterans: Liam Corner (MDOC) leads, but a seventh score from Martin Ward, who's sitting pretty on five wins and a second place, would give him the men's victory. Jane Anthony (SROC) has won the women's trophy.
Supervets: Winners are James Crawford (GO) and Jackie Chapman (LOC).
Ultravets: Mike Smithard (DEE) and Heather Smithard (KFO) are the champions.
The prize for the closest runner-up is still open. The top three junior men are all within 17 points, while the supervets are even closer: Lindsey Knox and John Embrey are currently 13 and 11 points behind Jackie and James. All of these gaps could either shrink or expand, depending on the results on the night.

Re: UK Urban League 2015 - final race and prize-giving
Michael had to do a P7 talk about an interest last week - he picked urban orienteering. One of the questions he was asked at the end was "Is the prize a real brick?" Apparently this was a cause of some discussion afterwards!
Orienteering - its no walk in the park

Re: UK Urban League 2015 - final race and prize-giving
With the first race of UKUL 2016 looming, I've realised that I never announced the 2015 winners. So huge congratulations (and bricks and Ultrasport vouchers) to:
Young Juniors Michael Paterson (CLYDE) and Sarah Darley (GO)
Juniors Adam Conway (GO) and Imogen Wilson (LEI)
Open Leon Foster (AIRE) and Rachel Potter (BOK)
Veterans: Martin Ward (SYO) and Jane Anthony (SROC)
Supervets James Crawford (GO) and Jackie Chapman (LOC)
Ultravets Mike Smithard (DEE) and Heather Smithard (KFO)
The prize for the closest runner-up was taken by Aimee Darley (GO), who won in Brighton to move within just eight points of Imogen.
