The bbc says that Orienteering isn't on the shortlist for inclusion in the 2020 olympics.

Could our sport ever be cool/youthful enough (it seems this is what is being looked for)?
Would it stand a chance if the Olympics was ever in Scandinavia?

Orienteering will never get in the Olympics (as they are currently organised) because there isn't any TV money to be made out of it.

It mainly matters when national sports funding bodies focus all their efforts (as they do from time to time) on elite funding for Olympic (or Commonwealth) sports. So you get the seemingly perverse situation where kids are encouraged to take up shooting/bowls (exercise?!) over orienteering...
