Ely and Malvern off mine. Wish Forres was on again. Except for London (which is always a great weekend), Forres was my favourite so far this year
I think we have now been going to enough urban events to know which ones we think are worth travelling to. Think Edinburgh and MDOC will top my list and possibly FVO.

Just heard that the Tinto twin (world famous night/day event) might include a return to Lanark in 2016 (2015 race was this weekend). Lanark is a smashing urban map with some tricky forested bits thrown in and a visit to the (also world famous) New Lanark World heritage site thrown in!

Re: UK Urban League 2016
I'm with AWK - it would have been nice to have a few more in the North Midlands / north (of England), but I accept Roger can only select from those on offer.
Looks like I could be struggling for a full quota.

There's always a balance to be had (it looks quite South heavy towards the end of the year but most Scots races are early next year) and there are plenty of Northern Scots who dont travel to races in the Central belt let alone England.
I didn't have any argument with the three Scottish races, other than perhaps they're somewhat clustered. My concern is with the lack of balance, inadvertant I'm sure, in England, particularly in the north/Midlands. With races scheduled and almost certainly available in Sheffield (always excellent), Bradford (World Heritage Site), Huddersfield, Todmorden (weekend event) and Ripon (York is I gather normally unavailable), I had hoped there might be something in Yorkshire reasonably accessible for most of us - after all Yorkshire has the same population as Scotland. It's a bit like having one race in Scotland, and then finding it's in Berwick!

Agree entirely - I didn't do much this year because of injury, but London and Forres would have been highlights in even the busiest of years. York was outstanding too this year.

I know - wasnt meaning to imply that - just trying to shed light on the process. Seriously consider taking a couple of days off work for the sprint scotland sessions on the thursday and friday before the actual races - they should be well worth the trip!

Yes they should - all mapped and planned by myself and Kris Jones
We are applying for 2 World Ranking Events at the weekend to go with UK Urban League and Scottish Urban Leagues status too.

Not certain who is fronting which (think DEE Sat & SELOC Sun), but either way should be a cracking weekend with two contrasting events.
It is indeed a joint weekend. DEE are doing Ainsdale on Saturday afternoon.
Liverpool is a joint effort. SELOC are providing the organiser and helpers will be from both clubs. SELOC are leading on permissions whilst DEE are doing the map and planning.
And, re other posts on multiple levels, we have, of course, been talking to Liverpool One.
(if you can map the multiple levels of the Pirates of Carribean mountain in EuroDisney, you can map anything).

In the teaching world, taking a day off work is about as likely as me winning the elite races!
However, I break up on the Thursday, so looking at whether can get up in time for Friday, as it all looks incredibly attractive (also good to see sprint growing on calendar).

Sorry I didnt know you were a teacher - what I should have said was "Take a couple of years off sick with stress... "

Re: UK Urban League 2016
Can I make a plea for those races not designated as sprints to be more in line with the wording on the 2015 postcard of typical winning times 40-50 minutes. Quite a few this year have been below 30 minutes and for those of us travelling a long way it feels a bit like being short-changed.
Basingstoke yesterday was great, by the way. Lot of choices, lots of places to muck up, lovely sunny and warm weather, and 7.3km / 43 minutes of enjoyment for me.

Totally agree with the comment on winning times. For the UK league it is not worth travelling long distances for races that are won in less than 40 minutes

Re: UK Urban League 2016
People may be disappointed by Brighton then where I find that the courses that I am happy with end up being won in around 35 mins. Perhaps I should throw in a tedious 1.5km leg just to keep the value for money purists happy? Then again perhaps 35 minutes on a December evening in a head-to-head mass start race around a vibrant city (and beach front this year) can still be enjoyable. Entries now open on Fabian4, same event centre as the last few years and the usual 6:30 start time. http://www.brightoncityrace.org.uk/

Completely disagree! The nearest races in the 2016 league are 140 miles away (Awk you Yorkies don't know you're born...) so whether or not it's a 35 or 45 minutes race the competition time is always going to be a small fraction of the travel time.
And "value for money" has got very little to do with race distance, especially if the extra distance is just dead running - if you want a long run why don't you just go for a long run? - and much more to do with good quality planning, mapping and in particular printing, so that the courses are actually visible...
Personally 33 minutes yesterday was quite long enough on tarmac for my old knees and ankles

Re: UK Urban League 2016
That's interesting to hear the comments on length.
I recall some comments on a previous St Andrews race being too short and some equally vehement ones that Dunblane was too long!
As controller for Cumbernauld at the weekend I can confirm that the distances for the UKUL event on Sunday were within the BOF guidelines for distance for the relevant classes albeit towards the bottom end. I'm not aware of any BOF guidance on winning times for urban and neither planner nor controller were aware of any UKUL guidance on winning times sorry - we had plenty of other stuff to think about in the time available!
