Scottish 6 Days Results on British Orienteering Website
Does anyone know if the results are going to be put up on the British orienteering website for the rankings? I appreciate it was probably not priority number 1, but will it happen, or are the Scottish events different from standard ranking events?

No they aren't, they should appear at some point.

Such incredible tenacity and dedication, not just here but in all sorts of other areas. When everyone involved has every excuse for downing tools for a few days, the excellence just keeps on happening.

Well done all. Not a six-days query more a general query on the BOF site formatting, I can't view the results on an i-phone, is there a way of switching to desktop?

That works although I prefer using portrait lock so desktop option would be useful. Although my scores are rubbish so maybe best not seen.

I've just belatedly put my route up on Routegadget for Day 5 M65L(Course 28). My route on 3-4 might be of interest on this controversial leg. I was 7th on the leg having belatedly corrected my poor initial route choice (good call ). Some people think it's a very poor leg, others think it's very good, and the essence of orienteering. I think it's a poor but very, very interesting leg!

I ran course 27 and our 4-5 that day was very similar. I didn't see the option of running back through the car park, but had I known how horrendous the terrain and bracken was going to be (as an early starter) in the middle section of that leg, I would have gone that way!

Your leg was much better (at least theoretically) than ours, with 5 so much further from the road than our 4, and no one posting seems to have resorted to our obviously quicker road route, and there are many navigationally intense variations. One smart initial decision on our leg eliminated the need for navigation over the next kilometer-plus of the course, not, I my opinion (to quote a fellow M65L) 'what orienteering is all about'.

This kind of leg seems to be quite common at elite/WOC level, so the powers that be must disagree with you.

Given the terrain available, it's OK. The planner has given the (ahem) older competitors the chance to avoid one of the roughest bits of the grottiest forest. I think there's enough information on the map to make the right decision, and most people failed to do so. I'll bet that if the leg had gone the other way (4-3) there would be far more people on the road. Spookster's leg is better, but when you're planning nearly 40 courses not everyone can have the very best version of every leg.
