Re: World Cups Round 2 - Norway & Sweden
Race has just been voided due to SI Air+ units not responding properly. Some were programmed in "eco-mode" which means that they were slow to respond and runners had to turn back to confirm their punching, thereby losing time. It seems that these were replaced during the competition, thereby altering the disadvantage during the race.
This is a paraphrase of a statement just made by Jury member Helge Lang Pedersen (Denmark). In case any sharp-eyed nopers think that I must be directly involved in the decision, yes, I was meant to be on the jury today but a bad dose of man cold kept me away.

Re: World Cups Round 2 - Norway & Sweden
That's a real shame, particularly for Yannick Michiels, who would have been the first Belgian to win a World Cup race. Quote from the IOF website (which has yet to catch up with the news):
Yannick Michiels, Belgium, was the star of the show today alongside Tove Alexandersson, Sweden who took her fourth World Cup win of the season. Michiels took victory by 9 seconds to record a first Belgian win in a World Cup race.
It seems to me that we're all too keen to embrace new technology before it's been properly tested.

Hmmm, Emit used in the 2 Norwegian WC races - no problems, SI used in Swedish WC race and whole race voided........

Same happened in ski O world cup two years ago with emit tag. The problem is not the brand, it is this: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=14580&start=30#p165664

Should be okay tomorrow. They're using pin punches and master maps.

We know that units not responding properly isn't even grounds for reinstatement, let alone voiding. So presumably the problem is the second thing, that the organisers tried to fix the problem?
It might be nice if people in charge of putting units out in major competitions had some idea of the issues ...

The middle races are already underway with Scott (leading) and Ralph amongst the very early starters trampling down the vegetation. TV coverage (buffering problems - just me?) now live.
