This has always been a 'niche', but popular, format in the orienteering programme. So, what's on offer this year?
Start you off with..... The Allerdale Chase on the fells above Ullswater on June 28th. Four courses, but the main one is 18k with 750m climb.
WCOC also do the Copeland Chase in November. Allerdale and Copeland are the two districts of Cumbria in the west of the county.

Re: Long-O events 2015
It is certainly hard work keeping this format going! And yet, there are quite a few out there who enjoy the long-O.
You can still get an entry for this one..... just.... for this Sunday. Oentries.com

Tay aren't doing one this year, too much on this summer, and the long o was always alot of work (mainly taking out and bringing in the controls) for not many entries, and it tended to rain....

Would have done Allerdale if I was not at the Harvester.
Sun 13 Sept - Long Mynd and Lake District Mountain Trial.
Pity these are on the same day. There are not many Long Os and it's a shame when they clash with one another. There's also a Cumbrian Galloppen on the same day.
(and the same weekend as London City).

82 pre-entries, with perhaps a few more turning up on spec. Yes there are clashes with other events, but surely with a potential audience in the thousands the event might have attracted more. Perhaps we need more mud-baths, long slippery slopes to roll down, and wet ditches to wade through!

Good event with some tough running. Blue skies after a wet early morning. Photos on WCOC Facebook page
