Re: UK Elite Orienteering League 2015
The dream is to get prize money for the overall winners, but this is easier said than done - would really appreciate any suggestions / contributions - would people donate to a prize pot if there was a JustGiving page (or similar)? Would clubs donate takings from some events towards supporting elite orienteering in the UK?
In the past there have been prizes for Juniors winning races where they compete against the seniors, and I think anything like that should be encouraged. U23 class in the seniors too?

I think that with a little time spent supporting these clubs at a training event or promotional days by members of Team GB or the Home Nations Elites, these clubs might put their hands in their pockets in future. I can't find a link on the Moravian website but a great example is the work Rocky and Tess are doing with the Speyside schools for the Champions in Schools project: http://www.championsinschools.com/
Maybe now isn't the time before WOC to be getting too distracted but might be worth looking at with a longer term aim.

Re: UK Elite Orienteering League 2015
When the UK Cup and FCC failed to be used seriously by the leaders in BO Performance Orienteering it was very sad times.
I've been 100% behind Graham's attempts to resurrect this series of races that MUST be closely linked with the selectors' requirements to ensure it's an attractive and well attended series.
I wish it very well and will be supporting it, physically, mentally & financially. All those folk that enjoyed FCC and UKC of old but are now a bit decrepid and earning a decent wage - get your dosh out and wave some at GG! Every little 'elps.

Re: UK Elite Orienteering League 2015
Standings following the JK are now at: http://www.ukeliteoleague.org.uk/.
Feel free to let me know (contact email address on the website) of any errors. It was all quite complicated, given the rule of "Eligibility – must be member of British Orienteering and enter the races under a British club", given there were so many foreigners at the JK, so entirely possible I've included someone in the points I shouldn't have, or vice versa.
Also note generous sponsorship of prizes from Silva. We also have some offers of cash prizes from various individuals, which we'll announce soon (just figuring out exactly how to distribute them).

We are expecting to get further sponsorship from donations and from a well-known mapping company into the hundreds, if not thousands of pounds. But you have to be in the final to win it, so get your entries (and donations ) in now!

Re: UK Elite Orienteering League 2015
A correction: following some discussion, the eligibility rule is actually just BOF membership (you can actually be a member of and / or enter under whatever club you like). I've corrected the standings given that, and also two other things:
-- corrected some ties where the points weren't correctly awarded
-- you can get points in a higher class if on the same course (e.g. at JK sprint all of 18, 20 and 21+ can get points in the senior class).

We're thinking of applying for a grant which requires some commercial sponsorship, so anyone who owns a small company and feels like sponsoring the UK elite, please let us know. If you do it through the company, we can promote your company and get some extra cash for the UKEOL.

I was thinking this this morning, something other than BUCS (which does have a few old stagers still hanging about) for those just out of the junior ranks to focus on - works in Athletics, XC and Fell Running.
Maybe a top U23 prize at JK/BOCs could be a direction to head in?

Prize Money?
Make the "E" entry cost £1.00 or £0.50 more than the rest of the courses, that will build your pot of gold slowly.
I would suggest also a "Most Improver" award throughout the season, might not be a cash prize but something that has some use i.e a Head Torch, O-Shoes etc. If not, the boys/gals at the bottom whom know they cant get anywhere near the middle, will drop off and fall into MXXL/WXXL category.

The pot is now over £2000
With 6 races to count, the 6 English races finished, Duncan Birtwistle and Ruth Holmes are the early leaders. But with the 4 Scottish ones still to come it's still wide open.
