I'm sure a third party would be able to do all the 'pre-event' organising, entries, maps, courses, controlling, RA. But..... where will the 100+ volunteers come from to man the on-the-day jobs. Perhaps a pre-requisite of your entry..... you have to do a spell on parking, starts etc!!
If it is as simple as that, then why don't we pave the way for the model. The huge manpower requirements prior to the event are the real stumbling blocks to releasing intellectual energy to do the other things that the sport needs to survive.
And then..... who's going to enter the event at £60 a day!
