Thoroughly enjoyable race around Oxford today. Perfect running weather too. Liked the 'long sprint' format with rapidfire controls. Intricate bits around the colleges, with lots of impassable fences to make you have to look carefully to spot the possible routes around. That said, I was surprised by the numbers of big errors I saw by others in the university parks - the two runners ahead of me with 3 controls and about 300m to go, lost quite a few minutes at this point. The change from urban to parkland/woodland clearly catching them out.
Many thanks to OUOC for the event.

Agreed. Really good fun. Easy to miss the best route.

Re: Oxford City Race
It was great to have an elite sprint on offer too, and we got some training in around the remaining kites we hadn't visited earlier. Would be cool to have this option at more events. Many thanks OUOC.

Yes, a good event; some of the complex areas certainly caught me out. Thanks to OUOC for putting it on.

Thank you for the kind comments, will pass them on to those who don't read Nopesport (such people do exist).
Preliminary results (incl. winsplits, splitsbrowser, routegadget etc.) are now available.

Re: Oxford City Race
I and others were clearly told at the start about control 109 and since its new position was obvious (i.e. on the only route to the new position) it wasn't hard to find, so am surprised they voided the legs.

Re: Oxford City Race
'Some' were made aware of control 109, but by the time I got to the control (no. 22 on course 5),,I had forgotten about it, which one it was and where it had been relocated to.. It isn't a map memory course, and I know I lost over a minute, ideally a marshal should have been there or marked on all maps.

Re: Oxford City Race
Just back from updating the map for this years race (Saturday 19th November). Had to help a number of lost tourists find their way out of one college - hopefully you'll all have a bit more success.
