Re: Southern Champs/Interland?
Thanks Paul but I think we knew it was happening but for those of us who did not enter I think the question is more: did it happen?

The results are still a closely guarded secret though...

Apologies, Moles have a new webmaster who's not quite up to speed yet. Results - and Routegadget - should appear before too long.
Edit: and the delay is nothing to do with the webmaster anyway, see next post.

Due to:
1. A stolen control,
2. A minor technical glitch in the Results processing hardware (I.e. the computers
NOT the software)
3. The SI person being exceedingly tired and hungry after 2 days work.
They will, everyone hopes, be on-line this evening (Monday)
Apologies if you can't hold your breath that long

Re: Southern Champs/Interland?
RouteGadget 2 for Saturday @ The Nower is now available at
http://www.mvoc.routegadget.co.uk/rg2/#36
for those of you not at work using the firms computer time to
"play" with such things. Other results formats will follow during
the day.
Apologies for the delay

If the problem is sorting out final results with any glitches ironed, perhaps just post the provisional results that are displayed at the event.
To oblivion and beyond....

British Orienteering rules for level B events and above wrote: [Results] must be on the event website within 24 hours.
So by this evening both events will be late, the Nower results by 24 hours.

This can't be a surprise. Is it not best to plan to meet all the rules? Especially at an international event where a number of continental competitors will be judging British Orienteering based on this weekend? If there is only one SI person in the club, maybe consider using professionals at a level A event?

Probably the best solution would be for clubs to stop bothering to put on Level A events - they are getting to be too much hassle for a volunteer organisation. And PG will probably be able to win, as the only person willing to pay the entry fees for professional organisation.

The Nower Event results were on the MV RouteGadget website before 12:34 so only 12hours and 35 minutes late . Very sorry about this but I felt it better to have a proper set of results up than put up a pile of horse-dung that would need correcting.
Putting up results with known errors would have resulted in a barrage of e-mails to
the organiser and then a barrage of critisism as to why the correct results weren't
posted in the first place.
The MV webmaster works for a living and does the web-site updates when not at work,
and as yet has not been able to update the links on the MV site. This is why the link to RouteGadget was posted here (and on the MV Facebook page).

Re: Southern Champs/Interland?
Thank you.
Sorry to be so direct. I guess the problem is that our expectations have got higher as our technology and systems get better. People start looking for results within a few hours of the event.
MIE and IanD: I guess your webmaster may not be available at present, as I'm sure you know that if the website could get a link to the BO results page and a message as to when full results are likely, then it would be appreciated by Interland competitors and other non-Nopesporters.

Re: Southern Champs/Interland?
Results in 12 - 24 hrs...! Back 'in the day' I remember waiting six weeks for the envelope to drop through the letterbox for a major multiday event... although, as mentioned in an earlier post, a short message and a link to the BOF results for the Saturday event would be ideal.
Thank you Mole Valley for a great w/e... all the work of the volunteers is much appreciated including those who helped out from other clubs (e.g. SN). I know that some of you were still in the assembly area at 5.30 pm yesterday with the prospect of having to sort out controls and return loaned equipment over the next few days... what a fantastic group of volunteers there are in orienteering!
And congratulations to the winners and runners up... impressive navigation at speed - those of us who made errors paid dearly in terms of positions and ranking points.
