Re: Stockholm Indoor Cup
Yes, the Indoor Cup 2014 at Ostra Gymnasiet was featured in CompassSport Feb 2014. The map showing all three floors and the course was very interesting. Some of the doors at the top of stair wells were locked (or shown as impassable) to give some serious route choice options.
Please, someone find a similar building in UK where it could be staged. I'll travel for that one!!!!

Re: Stockholm Indoor Cup
Yes, similar at Tyreso this year, main corridor blocked off half way, so you had to go up and down a level to get past.
We have had an event in the Westfield (Stratford) shopping centre... though not the same, not as puzzling, but a different type of terrain being indoors... it was to be used again but it didnt happen.
I cant imagine ANY school letting us run around it in this country, sadly, but if Westfield allowed it, then Trafford Park.... Meadowhall....

It looked like loads of fun watching it, but sadly businesses and administrations in the UK have become so careful not to allow people in situations where they might try to make claims for being injured that I can't see it happening here. Would be great to be proved wrong.

Re: Stockholm Indoor Cup
So why is the UK so different - i see no reasons.
The event at Westfield was very successful so why not.... and with Schools supposed to be involved with orienteering..... Many teachers go orienteering, so show the school this video and ask politely...

Also we have been given access to plenty of "sensitive" areas for urban races - Cambridge and Oxford colleges as an example. I'm sure there must be a school out there somewhere who'd be willing to take part. Whether anyone's bothered enough to ask is another question!!

Didnt the westfield "event" end up being walking only? Or am I mixing this up with somewhere else?

Re: Stockholm Indoor Cup
running at Westfield was fine. The race just had to be held before the shops opened of a Sunday. Post-race analysis showed that the optimum route (it was a score event) was to use the lift for about 7 floors - but only if the lift was in the right place when you needed it!

Look out for more coverage of SiC in CompassSport Vol 36/2 - APR15 issue!
Nacka Gymnasium on the Sunday was even more complex I heard/saw with 5 floors. Winning times were nearly 50% longer! But the best always seem to win!?? Gustav Bergman won both main Mens courses - but do they? Marten Bostrom FIN WOC Sprint winner 2013 was miles down...
Great to see you making the effort to go over nooomember! I heard you were the almost the only one running with a GoPro!

Re: Stockholm Indoor Cup
Here is my headcam video of Day 2, Nacka.... Indeed on 5 floors, and gave me a real headache trying to work out any route to some controls. CHeck out the map.... Imagine you have just picked it up and see how long it takes to work out a route to even number 1!

Re: Stockholm Indoor Cup
That looks fun - it would be great if we could do it over here. Maybe a university might be easier to get permission for than a school?

A post-season large football stadium might cut it - perhaps while they are busy counting the loot from the new TV contract.
