Question: Does BO intend to prepare a team for this year's WOC?
If so, wouldn't it be a good idea to put on some training camps?
We're literally 7 months away from a home WOC. No sign of a programme and if I remember rightly, the last official, relevant, training camp took place in January 2014.

Didn't some of the prospective team hold their own training camp at the Race the Castles week?

No.
The team and their coaches seem to be quite capable of preparing themselves. Most of them are on a training weekend at this very moment at, er, your house.

The event is still definitely planned for Scotland this August

Re: BO & WOC 2015 Team
The time for WOC 2015 prep is over, everyone knows that with a 2 year lead-up everyone should be out training in Sweden.
Those hardcore enough to be attempting a 3-year lead-up are out in Otepaa already - if they'd have gone last weekend they'd have caught the XC skiing world cup races. Now THAT's a sign of poor planning...

Re: BO & WOC 2015 Team
I'm very grateful for the SEDS training you helped out on last weekend Lard! Top notch as ever. The race the castles camp which many WOC hopefuls (both British and from further afield) attended was also SEDS organised. SEDS training is passionate, experienced orienteers putting on excellent technical training with a small budget and a very inclusive attitude.
Most weekends are organised by WOC hopefuls, many of whom hold down full time jobs as well as heavy training schedules. Organising a training weekend often means that you can't take part in the training as you have done all / some of the planning, so it is not ideal for the athletes. Although SEDS offers their training weekends for all nationalities to take part in, many WOC hopefuls who are not based in Scotland might not find the locations suitable.
British Orienteering has not had an elite performance coach since September 2012, but one is due to be appointed in the near future. I wish them all the best, and look forward to hearing their plans for aiding athletes in their WOC 2015 preparations.
