This morning I have found, in the BO website in Firefox 34 in Member view, I cannot access any of the sub-options under the top-level menu entries.
If I switch to Newcomer view, I can access sub-options.
Both Member and Newcomer view still seem to work in IE 11.
I have no problems with any other website I have visited today in Firefox 34.
I have notified BO of this problem by email, and am posting this here on the assumption that others will encounter similar problems.

Seems OK to me with Firefox 34.0.5 on Windows 7: I can access (for example) Embargoed Areas under Events and it all works as it should.

Re: BO website navigation problem ?
I have done a full restart and still have the problem on Win 7, Firefox 34.0.
Just occasionally the sub-menu panel will stay visible when I try to move the pointer into it, but almost always it disappears and clicking where the entries ought to be does nothing.
Maybe it is just me, but seems unlikely as common elements e.g. Membership work fine for me in Newcomer view but not in Member view.

Re: BO website navigation problem ?
Just had an email from a friend who says :
"I have your symptoms too, in Firefox 34.0.5 and Windows 8.1.
Chrome and IE are OK.
Haven't tried it with my Windows 7 laptop though."

Re: BO website navigation problem ?
Questions which are likely helpful for this problem:
Are you (the people who are seeing the problems) logged in? If so, have you yet renewed for 2015? (BOF may modify the UI for renewal reminders at this time of year). Also does the Javascript console show errors (Tools -> Web Developer -> Toggle Tools, then refresh page, then make sure the Console tab is showing)? Do you have any apostrophes in your name? Finally, are you logged into Facebook at the same time (try logging out)?
(My answers: Yes & No, Yes, Yes (but not related I think), Yes, No, and I'm not seeing the problem).

It'll need to be a more interesting website than BOF to go through all that just to read it

Re: BO website navigation problem ?
As per KP, I am having a problem with Firefox 34.0.5. and Windows 7 SP1.
It seems to be on the Member View (which appears slightly different to yesterday)
more than the newcomer view (which does not appear to be different to the last
time I looked). I can work round the "problem" by maximizing (even if it is already maximized). I can also work around by left clicking the head title and dragging down
to the pop-up with the sub-menus.
I have a similar problem with IE11 but only for the British Team head title (furthest to
the right, next to the switch view button).
The answers to Angry Haggis are: No, Yes, Dunno, No,No,
Afterthought: I wonder if it has anything to do with the addition of the new TrailO mini-site ? that happened today

Re: BO website navigation problem ?
It's a really good idea to apply changes to a website on the very day that the developers / support staff all disappear for 2 weeks holiday, and at a tine that many members will be (hopefully) trying to renew - not.
My prompt reply from BO this afternoon said the issue has been forwarded to the developers - but they are now closed for Christmas.
As partial answers to AH :
I was not logged in when I saw the problems earlier today.
I renewed on Tuesday this week, and had no problems then, whether logged in or not.
I do not have apostrophies, or any other punctuation, in my name.
I am not logged into Facebook (don't even have an account).
Tools > Console gives :
Using //@ to indicate sourceMappingURL pragmas is deprecated. Use //# instead jquery-1.10.2.min.js:1
Password fields present on an insecure (http://) page. This is a security risk that allows user login credentials to be stolen.[Learn More]

Re: BO website navigation problem ?
And, as if by magic, the problem appears to have nearly gone away.
Only nearly though, as the "British Team" header appears to have an "orphaned" or
"estranged" pop-up which I can only get to using the left-click and drag work around.
It may be that the Christmas elf didn't spot that one

King Penguin - thanks, OK, I get the same Console messages, and it works fine for me. Oh well, I really have no idea then, apart from it possibly a caching problem. Should therefore go away if viewing the page in a private window (File -> New Private Window) as that will ensure that you get the latest versions of all the files.

Re: BO website navigation problem ?
Unlike MIE the problem has not gone away for me, though his "left click and drag" workaround also works for me.
The rightmost entry "British Team" is truncated to "British" until I left-click.
Am I imagining it or is the narrow grey surround on the site new ? Could the introduction of this have thrown the style sheet out of sync ?

Re: BO website navigation problem ?
I think I can see why some people are having the problem and others aren't: it's down to the size of the browser window. On my PC, with the window at the size I normally use, there's a very wide grey border round the page and everything is fine; if I narrow the window roughly to the point where the right-hand border starts to narrow, then I get the effect people are reporting. On IE11 it seems to work with a narrower window, except for the "British Team" part where the window is too narrow to show "Team", when the popup window appears lower than it should and again you can't move the mouse into it.

Confirmed.
IE11 works on my widescreen monitor and on my (nearly) square monitor (1280x1024), but Opera 26 and Chrome 39 only behave on the widescreen. On the narrower screen only "British" shows and doesn't respond.

Re: BO website navigation problem ?
Your browser window width needs to be at least 1230 pixels wide to see the whole page without scrolling sideways, and 1388 to see all the navigation bar options in Member view. So it's not responsive to screen size which doesn't help.
But the specific issue with Firefox 34.0.5 is that when in member view there is a gap between the top of the dropdown list and the navigation button, so if you move your mouse a bit slow the dropdown disappears, as you hit the no-mans land between the button and the dropdown menu. If you are quick you can get to the dropdown before it disappears.
I've tried looking at the source code to work out why, but it's so complicated and with loads of javascript mixed in, and that it only occurs on hover, that it's hard to see what bit of the CSS is causing the gap in Member view
Whilst these dropdown menus make it quicker to get to sub-pages they frequently cause problems with accessibility, responsiveness for smaller screens and touch screens. You also need to control how many main horizontal navigation buttons will fit and what to do when they don't.
