I had a chance to play with this at the O-Ringen and must say it looked good.
For those who have not received the email promotion:
SPORTident is pleased to present the ComCard. This all new product combines two key items of orienteering equipment - a SPORTident card and thumb compass in a single elegant device. The SPORTident chip is sealed in the compass underneath the thumb which makes it easy to use at a SPORTident control. The ComCard is available in both left and right handed versions.
A little disappointing they have chosen to go with the "Moscow Compass" and 30 punches.
One thing I'd like to see is how well it records the punch without being in the "hole" only placed over it.

Seems a bit strange to me ... currently, my thumb compass is on my less dextrous hand, and my SI Card is on my more dextrous hand ... which one should I use for this combo thingy ?

Have seen this advertised a couple of times now - thought it was a joke first. maybe its so enlightened that it is blinding me, but I really dont see the need for this combination of devices.

Seems to be solving a problem that doesn't exist.

I'm sure I've heard this talked about in the past as a reasonable direction to go in, though it's definitely a niche market, and with only 30 punches anyone running longer courses aren't going to be buying it any time soon or they'll end up carrying 2 si cards at some races!

Re: INTRODUCING THE ALL NEW SPORTident ComCard
Given some difficulties in punching at recent urban events, where control stations have sometimes had multiple wires / strings passing through the punching hole, the last thing I would want is a compass attached to the end of the SI card making it even more difficult to punch.
What would be more useful for SPORTident to develop would be a control station unit with securing holes separate from the punching hole - for use in any event (urban or forest) where control stations are liable to disappear.

A 1 mm gripple wire fits through the two mounting holes on a BSF8 station. That's what I use all the time.

Or the organising club could come up with a more usable method of attachment, like NeilC suggests

Re: INTRODUCING THE ALL NEW SPORTident ComCard
What I would really like is an e-card that only has to touch anywhere on the control box to register and ideally a box that is fully awake the whole time an event is active. An e-card that combines some sort of swipe ability and a big flashing light on the card so I can see the punch has been registered would be my ideal. I haven't been always able to spot on the emit card that a punch has been registered and I have not had a chance to try the touchless system from emit. I also hold compass and e-card in separate hands and would not currently find combining these things a benefit.

You've obviously never been to a LOG urban event - they have the SI unit inside a wooden box - no offending wires through the punching hole

And that's what I used at Wirksworth. Only to find on collecting 2 of the controls a gripple wire with lug but no box. By twisting the box the lug will soon break off.
