Since you all seem to like racing round castles, I thought that you might like to know that you can race around the outside of Colchester castle as part of the SOS Urban Race on Saturday 22nd November.
The brand new map (by GG), covers the town centre, historic Dutch Quarter, Castle Park, Colchester Institute campus, and residential areas. And as GG noted when mapping it, "it's more hilly than I expected". There is also an indoor changing area with showers.
Closing date for cheap pre-entry on Fabian4 is Friday 14th November.
Full details are here
If you want to make a weekend of it, then there is the CHIG Level B event at Epping NW on Sunday 23rd.

I get lost driving in Colchester, and knowing my track record, wouldn't do any better orienteering - will look forward to seeing maps on routegadget.

the approach to assembly avoids the worst of the magic roundabouts (including the one which one massive oval with a mini-roundabout at each of about 6 junctions - and you can effectively go around the oval the wrong way. It still blows my mind at quiet time so I can't begin to imagine it in the rush-hour).
- also take care if coming from the north down the Ipswich road - it is littered with speed cameras, most of which just after the slope increases in steepness where you have a tendency to speed up by a critical mph or 3.
