Afraid we can't quite match Edinburgh or Stirling for terrain, and not a castle in sight, but the final event in the inaugural West Midlands Urban O League takes place in Redditch on Saturday 25 October. All are welcome, just turn up and enter on the day.
Please note - NO DOGS permitted in parking or event centre. We are very grateful to Walkwood CofE Middle School for the provision of these facilities, but conditions of use include no dogs whatsoever, and also no traders (equipment or food).
The area is residential with open areas. There are many cul-de-sacs and connecting paths to provide route choice.
Shorts & running vests permitted (subject to weather), and road shoes / trainers recommended. Metal dobs are not appropriate.

Re: West Midlands Urban O - SATURDAY
Giving this a bump because the grapevine suggests some people think they can't come because it clashes with the Midlands Champs. It doesn't - the Midlands Champs are on Sunday, Redditch Urban is on SATURDAY.

I'm looking forward to this, knowing how many little paths and alleyways there are in Redditch.

Re: West Midlands Urban O
If you are intending to come to the Redditch Urban this Saturday 25th Oct. then please be aware that although the direction information is correct on the flyer the postcode of the school being used for the event centre is not.
The postcode for your satnav/google maps should be:
B97 5AQ
(mea culpa - typing/transcription error)

Pity the West Midlands Urban league scores are not up yet after the Walton Chasers event. I know they results can be interpreted from the event results but it would have been interesting to see if there was any competition in the league classes.

Re: West Midlands Urban O
Thanks to all who came to Redditch today; oity there weren't a few more.
Apologies to those on courses 1,2,3 who were affected by the theft of control 174.
Whoever took it must have been "tooled up" as there was no sign of any damage on the tree it was grippled to.

It was very good - thanks for putting it on! Just finding out now about all those extra places where I lost time.

Re: West Midlands Urban O
Thanks to HOC and especially John Embrey for planning a really enjoyable Mens Open course. I loved that there was route choice for every competitive leg even the short legs. When I first saw the map and noted it was mainly housing estates I did wonder where the challenge might come from but the course planning made best use of all the little alley ways. Even when I came back into an area I had already passed through I was coming in from a different direction so there was no relaxing, all the controls had to be navigated to.
I could sense the huge amount of work that had gone into planning and organising this event and that putting on an urban event is not an easy option for a club. A good contender for a UK Urban League event next time the area is used.

Those results don't take account of the missing 174 - those affected are shown as DQ.
