I always worry when I see a pit, small depression or dot knoll symbol within an area of broken ground, Whilst at mapper / planner pace the feature may seem very obvious and fair you can almost guarantee that to runners at competition pace you are creating a bingo control.
So
Mappers - don't map any brown feature within an area of broken ground that can not be accurately mapped with a contour of form line.
Planners - if you have such a feature on the map resist the temptation to use it as a control site
Controllers - if the planner has used such a feature disallow it. O if it really is essential to the course and ends or starts otherwise excellent legs, insist that the control is hung high.
Orienteering is about effective navigation along legs, not a treasure hunt at the end of a leg.
