British NIght Champs

British Nights this weekend - looks like the weather's going to be OK.

The organiser's thoughtfully adjusted the start times to ensure that it will be dark for early starters and in the process did some 'tweaking'

Whilst tweaking the times I have also sorted out the odd anomaly e.g. members of the same family on the same course starting at consecutive times (oops!). I have also attempted to spread out the better competitors to ensure fairer competition.

So on the M45/M50 course we now have Clive, Quentin and Dave Peel all within 4 minutes and I'm starting a minute behind the club member I'm travelling down with.

You could start at the same time and it would not be an advantage to you beyond the start kite

Yes, enjoyed the British Nights (despite a DSQ for missing a control), and very much enjoyed the chance to run round Pippingford again today. Thanks and well done, MV.

Thanks MV for two great events. Enjoyed going back round again in the daylight today so I could figure out where I went wrong last night. Particularly enjoyed positioning of starts / finishes both days.

If you can't get enough of Ashdown Forest at night, the final Kent Night Cup this year is at Hindleap Warren on Thursday 27th March.

With the Harvester at Winterfold and Pitch Hill on May 18th, the South East is definately doing well for night events this year.

Thanks MV for two great events. I always enjoy Ashdown Forest and this was one of the best. I thought the courses I ran were very cleverly planned over the two days to avoid the night competitors running any similar legs the following day. I also enjoyed arriving on the opposite side of the valley on Sunday morning. It allowed me to look over the previous night's terrain and piece together all the bits I had briefly glimpsed in the beam of my head torch.

Does anyone know if there are any more photos of the night event? I saw a couple of photographers taking a lot of photos but they are not in the photo link on the MV website.

The "club" photographer is not a "poster" on Nopesport, I will check if he is going to
make his available on-line. Not sure about any others that were out there in the
"wild" as I was stuck inside both days

I'm afraid not now, land permission problems, looks like the final event will be at part of Ightham (nr Sevenoaks) which is still a great area.
