Blue @ £7.00 is looking quite inviting.

Re: Shock! Horror!
Totally logical.
Need to charge more because at those prices fewer will enter.

Re: Shock! Horror!
If I recall correctly I think the main champs such as this do not operate on the normal levy basis but on a budget / profit share pre-agreed with BOF.
At these prices there won't be much profit for anyone to share.
My view has always been that national championships should be flagship events and pitched to attract the maximum possible number of competitors. I doubt that will happen at these prices.
The age-class relays could be a bit of a farce. How many clubs will have 3 runners for each category ?

I guess with the reduction in BOF membership fees this is considered the way to recoup the balance ?

Cheap rate entry for the Tough Mudder the month before is £95 http://toughmudder.co.uk/events/london-west-2014/. I suspect it will sell out.

Err.. No -- It's £95 if you enter this month (for the end of April) PLUS a mandatory £10
insurance charge and "other fees". But you do get an Orange headband, T-shirt and
a "hard-earned beer" for those fees.
The "Spartan Zombie" race at Pippingford Park (venue for the up-coming BNC) in
November cost £85 but they did spend 3-4 weeks building the obstacles and
still haven't removed them all yet

In 2013 I paid for Senior £19 and Junior £10 this is a 31% and a 30% increase respectively on the early entry cost!

I was aware of some of the discussions between BOF and NEOA and you are correct that the BOC doesn't operate on the levy principle but on a profit share basis. The trouble is that the contribution required by BOF is such that (on the sort of numbers likely to attend) these are the charges required ( I saw the original back of envelope calculations which have now obviously been firmed up into a budget).
Possibly the slowest Orienteer in the NE but maybe above average at 114kg

Re: Shock! Horror!
Seems more sensible to keep the quality high rather than let it drop to keep costs down. Otherwise it will be competing with all the other orienteering weekends and numbers likely drop much further.
An opportunity for the organisers to sell the event? June this year is later than normal and presumably half term, so what are the holiday possibilities, esp. for those with non-orienteering partners? Accommodation tips? Is public transport possible?

That doesn't sound much like "profit-sharing" - how much are BOF demanding?

That's the notional ratio, however, AndyC's post implies that BOF are demanding that their "share" is at least £XXXX (or £Y per competitor) - that's what it would be good to know
