Quite a bit of driving on some days from Inverness. Wonder how it's going to work spectating WOC and competing in S6D? Some very early starts?
BTW Race the Castles looks awesome - bring it on

Start times normal (1000-1430) but yes you will have to get up early unless you are by the event centre/campsite in Inverness. Programme designed to maximise WOC viewing (for those who want to) with rest day moved to after Day 2. There are only two days where S6D/WOC happen at the same time. We hope to publish a joint programme for those who cannot work it out themselves. Areas are great, some surprises thrown in.

Extract from Economic Impact Assessment done for Moray 2013:
For the majority of participants (52%) the World Orienteering Championships being held alongside the 2015 event had no bearing on their decision to attend.

Looks good. I'm guessing the afternoon starts will be late enough for most to get along and spectate (most importantly for Sprint and Relay(s), which are probably the biggest medal chances).

I suspect though that there will be many like us who don't normally attend the SSD (and therefore didn't complete any questionnaire) but will in 2015 because of WOC, and would certainly anticipate being able to attend both parts.

I'm probably among the 52%. I'd definitely go to Highland 2015, whether or not it included WOC 2015, so for me it had no bearing on my decision.
But I will also definitely spectate WOC 2015!

Notice that forest relay and 6D are in the same place on the same day. Anyone would think somebody gave it some thought...
Coming soon

Two teams, two chiefs, lots of indians and a pile of Post It notes and whiteboards I seem to recall.

I am amongst the 52% but surely your conclusion is wrong. I would attend the S6D with or without WOC but, as they are both on was there a question asking which would take priority? I would fully expect to run all S6D and to spectate all the WOC races and will be very dissappointed if I have to miss my S6D runs because my priority is to spectate the WOC races.

Tend to agree with Spookster/GAW - I think the question quoted by freefall isnt actually that relevant to the point I was making (sorry freefall)
Like the other two, yes i would be going anyway ergo no the fact its WOC doesnt impact on this. But, absolutely I want to both run and spectate if possible, and in some instances, particularly the sprint, and sprint relay, I'd want to spectate first, even if it meant missing a run.
Now I've never ever been to WOC so coming at this from a position of ignorance, but if I have a family of four, pre-entering for S6D is a fair old wad of cash. Spectating at WOC is apparently free, but in the event all 4 of us have to miss a race (as would need to be the case - its all or nothing) thats in effect £40 to spectate at WOC (assuming we enter early bird and prices are held at 2013 levels). And thats leaving out the possible issues if my club is down to help at the S6D on one of the days that I want to be elsewhere to spectate!
So - I guess what we the paying, and helping, public are hoping for is some really comprehensive, clear and above all, early, information about how to manage all these potentially competing issues. I am sure that the S6D team are capable of dealing with this, I dont know the WOC team well enough to be so certain, and am sincerely hoping that Freefall working ebtween them hasnt had a nervous breakdown by then!

Re: Highland 2015 - Scottish 6 Days Programme released
I've modified the programme table on the S6D 2015 website to include the where & what WOC info.
The timings are not precise yet but it gives you a rough idea.
I've no idea of the implications or how to implement them but it might be nice if you could tick a box on your entry that indicated if spectating at WOC was a high priority for you. Earlier starts would probably be helpful if that applied to you, but that shouldn't be allowed to compromise the fairness of varying start blocks over the week.
I'm suspect that there is a reasonably large number of people who's priority is competing at the 6 Days and that they might spectate if it was easy and convenient. Might be useful if we could identify the split between the keen, maybe & not interested potential spectators.

I would much rather sacrifice the fairness of varying start blocks in order to be able to spectate WOC - even if that means being n/c for the SSD overall result. Perhaps such an option could be made available? Perhaps by having a "WOC spectators" start block for those whose priority is to watch WOC, would like to run the SSD but are less bothered by the overall SSD classifications. Such a start block could also encourage lift sharing if the two arenas are some distance apart.
