Day 1, 9.22 start - yikes! - have to be on the first bus out - still it gets easier each day after that. Make sure you all make yourselves known at the H. van wont you - if you havn't brought it with you we've probably got it anyway! My club for foreign pruposes is MADO by the way (Malvern and District Orienteers)

Really pisses me off all these people that ,invent, clubs to enter overseas events. Read some of the stuff here & it,s about building club spirit & loyalty etc etc. Then the same bunch of hypocrits go & invent another club. Load of tosh.... but typical of British orientering I,m afraid... where is the future... not MADO for sure.... that (and those in it) are well in the past playing thier own silly games.

Oh dear your doing the same course as me, I thought I would be the only Brit doing kort. Got a very late start on day 1, I expect they will have to keep he finish open specially for me and my family will have eaten all the food when I get back!

Not done the O ringen before so probably talking complete tosh, but I was under the impression that if all the information for each club was sent to one person. So if you want to be in charge of yourself and be sure of getting your own maps back each day, then your group has to have its own club name. I don't think it shows disloyality to your club just helps the logistics of things.

I reserve my judgement until I've seen how it works.
Perhaps you can answer this, I turn up at the oringen before the club member with all the guff, will they give me my tent pitch and other information essential to the enjoyment of my holiday, or do I have to wait a few days until the other club members arrive?

Gross, it may surprise you to know I don't organise my orienteering to gain your approval - so you can take your Scottish O Tours and stuff it straight up your backside ( how convenient for you as no doubt that's where the sunshines from and I expect you are tour leader anyway.) and as you know nothing about me or the rest of my family you can keep your offensive little personal opinions to yourself.
Jude - we'll have some fun!

take it easy gross! there is something to be said for entering a team for all the people travelling together. If all the people i entered for spring cup had been entered for their "own" english club then i would have had to do over 6 separate entry forms. a bit unecessary really!

you can get your tent pitch as soon as you arrive, as long as you know your club name, and roughly where it is. i think they publish maps of the campsite on the internet in the week before the event, each area has an office which will direct you to your site.

Quite right Rach. As it happens I am running for my own club and co-ordinating entries. My brother's coming with us and is the only one from his club going so he's pretending to be a SPLOT for the week. Anything wrong with that? It'd be all very well if you have a bus full of people heading up from wherever (Lithuania?) to get to the event but I suspect most clubs have 1 or 2 going, so are grouping together.

Every time i've been recently it's certainly been easier entering everyone i've travelled with under a fictional club, that way it saves a lot of time when you collect the info only having to get one lot of stuff rather than the 10 or so different clubs that we've belonged to. And does it really matter if you don't run as your British club at a foreign event?
The reward of a thing well done is to have done it.
