Had two contrasting days in Newborough Forest over the weekend. Still air and glorious sunshine on Saturday, car park packed, beach lovely... but discovering that although most of the 'green' was now very nice, some of the bits mapped as white were ghastly. Fortunately the organiser / remapper concurred.
After some swift replanning on the hoof and on Saturday night, Sunday's visit was gratifyingly pleasant from the orienteering perspective, although the howling gale and lashing rain gave me the car park more or less to myself.
I can't promise which version of the weather you'll get, but I can promise that the courses will be set up for exciting racing on the nicest bits of the map. Prologue start times 12:00 - 13:30. http://www.jok.org.uk/chasing_sprint

Hopefully the Welsh Champs the day after will also manage to find some nice bits! It's a long way to go for grot.

I didn't go into the area being used by the Welsh Champs, but they had first choice (and more time to plan!) so I'm sure they'll have found some really nice terrain. Should be an excellent weekend.

Entries should be opening very soon on Fabian4 for the event.
In the meantime, it would be good to track down all of the Flying Pig trophies, and ensure that they will be at the event - please get in touch at secretary (at) jok org uk to organise/confirm return. Trophies can be left at enquiries at the London race on Sunday if you are unable to make it on the 12th.

"Format: Two rounds - Interval-start prologue determines start times for the later chase. Winning times approx. 40-45 mins for each course."
So is that 40-45 for the Prologue AND 40-45 for the Chase, or does it mean (hopefully) that that is the combined time.
Maybe I should ask the Controller ... Oh, hang on!

I expect it means 40 - 45 mins combined for Prologue plus Sprint for "class" -
("course", as in Chasing Sprint: Men's and Women's Open, 40+, 55+, 16-.
Stand-alone Orange and Yellow courses.)

King Penguin: It sounds like your "expectation" aligns with my "hope" - of course my hope is based on firmer evidence than your expectations.

Now clarified - the format remains the same as always. And for those intending going up for the weekend, note that the closing date for entries for the Welsh Champs is this coming Monday (30th Sept), whereas that for the Chasing Sprint is the following weekend (6th Oct).

OK so wearing shorts while checking controls wasn't a great idea - but it was a lovely day!
Managed to find most of the control sites!

It looked lovely from 30,000 feet last night on the way home

Sorry to be missing it. The annual golf weekend was already scheduled before you'd announced the date.

Plenty of sun bathing on the beach. Not often you see bikinis so late in September in Wales!
They couldn't distract me from the great views across to Snowdonia though.

Mind you - it was pushing 15 degrees which is pretty much a heatwave round these parts.

Entries close tomorrow (Sun 6 October) on Fabian4. At present there's a yawning gap on W16-: does anyone know a young lady who'd appreciate a flying pig?
Start times for the prologue are 12:00 - 13:30.
