During the weeks and months leading up to Moray 2013, as part of my work as Regional Development Officer, I worked with the local press and various local groups to increase the awareness of the event, and hence try to improve general welcome that our competitors would get.
Although not very successful in attracting newcomers to actually take part, there does seem to be a lot of positive local reaction which I am keen to build on as we prepare for WOC/Highland 2015. This will hopefully increase local participation in the sport as awareness/understanding builds.
If anyone has had a particularly positive experience of their time in the area, and could spare the time to write to the relevant local paper, I would appeciate it. Letters from outside the area commenting positively on local event do appear from time to time and tend to be very well received. Feel free to include any interesting story that might appeal to locals.
