Is that the tame leopards, or the vicious ones that live in the gorse?

6 Days Website wrote:Euromeeting at Moray 2013 is also ideal preparation for the World Orienteering Championships 2015.
- Compete in relevant disciplines of Sprint, Middle and Long Distance
- Familiarise themselves with Scottish orienteering including training opportunities
- Meet the key players involved in organising and delivering WOC2015
Does anybody here think the style these details are written in is acceptable for an international event?

Shorts are allowed and generally encouraged if you have nice legs, but beware of the gorse. Please wear a top too. Old-fashioned multi-coloured nylon O-kit is permitted but will be mocked mercilessly by event officials and the general public alike.

Lighten up. It is a holiday event for most us.
I liked it, made me smile.
Hopefully I can have a laugh at few other things next week as well. Looking forward to it.

Re: Fnal details
The Scottish 6 Days is mass participation holiday orienteering in wonderful terrain - very well run and successful over many years. The final details referenced seem a splendid match for a rest day sprint for such an event, and reading them will be enjoyed by most of the attendees, including some who have posted. Yes, let's look forward to a brilliant day.
Immediately before the holiday event's rest day sprint is the dry run race for international athletes looking towards the World Champs (WOC) Sprint in two years time a.k.a. Euromeeting.
The point raised about the details comes from WOC being a completely different sort of event to the 6-Days, namely extremely select participation and very serious, rather than mass/holiday.
The "final details" for the recent WOC in Finland are in their Bulletin 4 available at
http://sslmedia.info/julkaisut/woc2013/bulletin4/woc2013Bulletin4.pdf
Have a look at pages 20 and 21 for comparison.
We may conclude Euromeeting may be coming in somewhere between 6-Days and WOC in style.

Re: Euromeeting / 6 Day Sprint 31 July Lossiemouth
Last year's Euromeeting sprint details didn't mention that...
the course crossed a busy road.
a marshal would be in said road, with no de jure or de facto ability to stop traffic.
an apparently-best route choice across a tarmac area in fact involved winding through a very active open market.
the planning was sh*te.
This year's Euromeeting sprint will be better. Much better. It'll probably be better than the WOC2015 sprint.
Insofar as being a major international meeting, here's what the IOF president said when I tried to find out about bidding for it...
I have no idea under whose auspices the event is held - I
know it is not the IOF and our European working group but that is where my
knowledge stops!
Many thanks

Euromeeting is put together by the Nordic countries as a training opportunity for competitors and organisers of forthcoming WOCs. Lighten up and enjoy.

I might have done better to add closer to the 6-Days end than the WOC end of the scale.

Re: Euromeeting / 6 Day Sprint 31 July Lossiemouth
Maybe someone in the know can help me here but is there actually any final details available for Euromeeting other than the odd paragraph on the Sprint race info? I can't find anything on the website other than the general info of what areas are on what day.

Agreed, and the tone is perfect for a holiday event sprint. However it misses the fact that Euromeeting is organised as an International competition.
I realise Euromeeting is a B international and not nearly as serious as WOC but a damn sight more serious than a Holiday for many involved. People have worked hard and been selected to compete for their nations and for many of the competitors this will be the only chance they get to pull on their national kit and compete. The details belittle this.

Well the WOC organisers aren't doing much training in this event it seems. Maybe it is just the competitors taking it seriously.

I'm sure the competitors' sense of self worth will cope with a bit of gentle humour; they and the organisers will be more than aware of what does need to be treated seriously.

That's unfair. There's absolutely nothing suggesting that the organisers are belittling the scale of the event. The details might not have been professionally produced but (a) they tell you where you need to go for the race, and (b) they tell you where you're not allowed to go until the race. What more do you want?
Just wait until the day and see what effort has been put into Euromeeting, I don't think many folk will be disappointed.
