Certainly did, thanks TVOC.
You caught me with #3 on this afternoon's run. Thinking there was a gap between the buildings proved costly.

We really enjoyed the event. route choice of 10 to 11 on Course 4, Race B, was excellent. Spoke to 4 people who all went different ways.

When I access Splitsbrowser (using Firefox), I get a message "This Plug-in is disabled".
Anyone tell me how to fix this?

Enable Java in the Plugins section of Add-on Manager. Depending on your version of Firefox, it's accessible either via the 'gear' icon in the bar at the top of the browser window, or at the bottom of the default home page, see screen fragment.

Re: Rutherford Labs double sprint race, 26 Aug
Erm I don't want to sound stroppy or anything like that, but can you take these videos off until there is clearance to show them?
The sister lab up north (STFC Daresbury) has a no camera/film rule unless it is cleared with our Outreach department first. I suspect STFC RAL will have the same rules (and other companies like DIAMOND might also have restrictions.
If I had seen any headcams then I'd have asked you to remove them. I saw cameras, but I asked them to remain outside the RAL entrance and not go in.
Once the relevant people have seen them then I suspect it'll be OK, but best to be on the safe side.
Thanks

Unfortunately you do sound stroppy.
An official, possibly the planner spoke to me and raised no objections.
Maybe better tell Google etc too.

Was this restriction mentioned in the competition information.... I guess it was as the controller was obviously aware in advance & would have made the organisers etc aware

It seems irrelevant to me what the situation was before the event. If those who arranged access now have a concern, they should be supported. Such an approach is essential if we are to retain landowner confidence (both of this landowner and in general).

Now I don't want to sound alarmist but I've worked in environments where I've had to sign the official secrets act before I've been allowed into areas like that described and it is possible that unauthorised filming can actually be a criminal offence punishable by a long period of imprisonment.
I suspect that isn't the case here as they allowed the event but just take them down it's the easier solution.

Possibly the slowest Orienteer in the NE but maybe above average at 114kg

Re: Rutherford Labs double sprint race, 26 Aug
Thanks for the support AndyC and Oldman.
I am fairly confident it isn't THAT sort of government facility AndyC - but on the Friday before the event we just about had permissions taken away from us as people weren't keen on us running though 2 parts of the site (hence the last minute OOB in the start lanes for one of them). I wasn't party to the exact worries about the other area, but am concerned that having a film of it on Youtube might not go down too well.
Gross: Had RAL specifically told us no cameras/filming then it would have been passed on. I am just trying to be cautious and hoping we can get permission before anyone makes a fuss. The guy who gave us permission fought tooth and nail for it to go ahead at the tail end of that week (see above) and I wouldn't want to make things awkward for him.
So can I repeat the request to remove it?
Cheers
JK

Perhaps if you get no suitable response JK, the moderators could step in given the pretty obvious sensitivities involved?

How do the moderators take it off YouTube?
Should have thought only the originator could do that.

At your request I will 'temporarily' make the video private, but I musr make a number of points.
Had the area been That sensitive, then no-one would have had access.
There is nothing stopping public access where orienteers went, simply enter from the far side, no gates, no security.
Plenty of people took photos through the security fence.
Should orienteers wipe all images seen during the course from their brain.
There is nothing to prevent someone who has now downloaded the video from posting it themselves.

Don't BOF child protection guidelines/policies say that those wishing to film at events have to register with organisers beforehand?
