There are still entries available for the special celebration event on Saturday 13th July. The event commemorates the first-ever orienteering event in England, held during the summer of 1963 at Whitewell. On that occasion, 17 competitors ran a 6.5 mile course, the winning time by Peter Booth of Bury &Ratcliffe Harriers being 1 hour 9 minutes and 45 seconds.
Whilst we can’t replicate perfectly that event, we’ve come as close as possible to doing so. This one is also centred on Whitewell and covers the same terrain, but to the south of the river Ribble. More details here or enter now via Fabian4.
