The novice mapper would be interested in any constructive comments on how the map could be drawn better, or inaccuracies that you may have discovered that could be put right before any next time.
PM or forum comment as you prefer.

Re: Dorking
I did not see any problems with the map on the run, though I do wonder if a few of the control sites were unwise for proximity EMIT (though absolutely fine for standard EMIT or SI). Based on range stated at assembly and start, on course 3 I suspect controls 5, 13, 25 (and possibly 18) might have registered from the wrong sde of the uncrossable feature - though I did not test the theory.
However, to contradict this, with the range quoted I cannot see how anyone could have failed to register a punch at the final control on the gate (mine registered OK). Although we were told to check for the red light flashing I wonder whether there is a case for claiming "technical failure" on that one and reinstating affected runners ?

Re: Dorking
No complaints on the map (and I've looked at a lot of urban maps)!
Enjoyed the course (until my hamstring went), only thing I might have done differently would have been to avoid crossing the main road for one control then crossing straight back.
Oh and looking at course 3 we thought swapping 3 and 25 might have made for more interesting route choice - but in no way a complaint!
Thanks for organising, really nice sat in the sunshine this afternoon, and thought the Emit system worked really well - far far preferable than trying to get a brikke in the right way round.

Enjoyed the map - didn't pick up anything that didn't ring true. Equally enjoyed the Emitag system - seemed to work well, really encouraging good control flow. On the planning front, some interesting stuff interspersed with a higher proportion of straight forward to very easy navigation than I had anticipated when first seeing the map. Had to be alive as to when to switch back on though! Legs definitely suffering after the previous two days!

Re: Dorking
Really enjoyed the event despite punching a wrong control -15 on Course 4! Did find a competitor trying to punch through the uncrossable fence at 11. When I shouted at her that it was uncrossable she did then go round and up to the control. The emit tags are great. Shame we didn't use them for the Relays - perhaps there wouldn't have been so mispunches on the mini Relay, which was a real disaster area of that event, with 5 prize winning teams being DSQ'd.

I've received - in my capacity as club chairman - a very friendly and broadly supportive email from a local resident whose private road we used, who nevertheless was unhappy with
So if you were one of those in a "state of oblivion", probably focussing on the map, please be a bit more courteous to the locals in future.

running straight at us and brushing past without a thought or word

Some more photos from Dorking - excuse the WOC2015 Flickr account but I was thinking ahead http://www.flickr.com/photos/woc2015/se ... 425789329/
I saw one competitor jumping the wall between the path end and vegetation corner next to the muti-storey. I shouted at him as did others so he jumped back.
Wonderful to go south to such green trees and terrific weather. It's not like that back up in Nairn today.
