Entries close for the Lakeland Spring Weekend on April 7th - a superb 2 days of 'O' in prospect, starting with Esthwaite Intake on Saturday (Middle Distance Race), followed by a Classic distance race in Graythwaite on Sunday - which includes newly mapped areas never previously used.
If you're in the Lakes either before or after, LOC have a short technical race on each Wednesday for you to acclimatise! - full details on the LOC website.

Forest. Much better than last year's BOC (and this year's for that matter).

Just to clarify, this is the old map - the new version will only be revealed on race day...
and yes, it is much better than last years BOC - very technical with a great mix of open working forest, beautiful (mainly oak) deciduous woodland, a little bit of open for the longer courses, and some areas of low-vis coniferous. All in all, a great mix, and coupled with Esthwaite Intake the day before, possibly the best weekends 'O' in England this year...

If it's better than the Trossachs, it'll be amazing: 60 minutes hard running and complex orienteering before I even saw my first man-made feature (the road crossing!).

Clashes with Penhale and St Ives

I know it's not much consolation, but that isn't really a clash... there is 400 miles between the two, and we have tough, hill, knarly Lake District courses as opposed to the fast intricate contours of the SW.
Could still do with more entries - a double w/e like this deserves more than the 400 or so we currently have ready to do battle in the Lakes.
Hopefully the weather gods will be kind to us all - makes things so much more enjoyable...
