OK looks like all you who keep complaining about the rankings might have some action -from BO Facebook
"Ranking System Update
On Wednesday 3 April 2013 the ranking system will be updated. This will entail a complete re-run of the results data to normalise the ranking points awarded. There will also be a change to ensure the normalisation is an on-going process.
This will inevitably result in ranking points being altered against the historical data so you should not be surprised if your ranking points change.
Hopefully the process of updating the system will be smooth but we have learnt from past experience that this may not be the case.
The ranking leader table is recalculated every Thursday morning consequently the leader table as presented on Thursday 4 April will reflect the changes.

I wonder if they've changed the algorithm or are just eliminating bad data?

Re: Ranking List
No change to the algorithm. The main change is that the list will be re-based regularly to cure the downward drift of points problem.

Will the rerun put right the downward drift over the past 12 months, enabling some good recent runs to contribute more than rather less good older runs, or is only correcting downward drift in the future?

Ollie's site still has the old scores so lots of comparisons are possible. My points have gone up
I think no 1 Murray's Sprint points have gone down, others have gone up.

Mine have gone up a LOT!! (over 1000 points) -my place within the club hasn't changed significantly however so it is probably just a number thing

Re: Ranking List
MIne all seem to have gone up by about 100 and compressed so the overall spread is less. Almost all CLyde members seem to have beenfited - is there a N/S divide again?

+350 for me, with no change in ranking position.
Best 6 counting scores are approx. the same points as they were 2 years ago.

Re: Ranking List
Total up just over 500 but position unchanged. My top 6 average is now almost exactly the same as it was in April 2010 (when the slow downward drift began). Interestingly though, next to my record for that month, I have a note: 'database updated'.

Re: Ranking List
Pretty much everything should go up. There was/is a flaw in the algorithm which causes a steady deflation of scores over time. So recent scores will go up more than old ones.
You can thank Edinburgh student Justs Zarins for his careful analysis, and if you're feeling kind write to the markers of his project.
It is possible that some scores will go down - I'd be interested to know about any case like that. We do know about other possible mathematical oddities, but nothing likely to be noticeable.

Yet still the results are complete sh8t
What's the point of having a combined ranking list when it's so inaccurate. You think with the collective wisdom around, something better could be done.

Perhaps you could explain how you find it inaccurate - then it might be possible to consider your point of view.

Wouldn't you expect, if this were the case, that people's positions would move around quite a lot? For instance, someone with 6 scores 11 months old and someone with 6 scores 1 month old?
At first glance it seems like positions are entirely unchanged.
