A reminder that the 2013 AGM is being held at the JK, on Friday afternoon 29 March at 5pm, after the Sprint event.
Also a reminder that, unlike previous years, the papers for the AGM were not sent out with Focus, but instead made available online. Apparently some people haven't realised this, and were (or are) still expecting them to arrive in the post.
The papers are available here. These include the Annual Report and Accounts.
If you're not coming to the AGM you can vote by proxy, and this years proxy votes can be returned by email, as well as by post. The deadline is 28 March, the day before the AGM.

And how do you propose to let the vast majority of BO members who do
not come onto this Forum know -- or aren't you bothered ?

Every member has been sent an email about it, it's the lead news item on the website (twice) and it's on p3 of Focus.

I can safely say that although the e-mails may have been sent they have not all
arrived (mine for one). If you look at the Focus topic on this forum you will also
see that not all members have had Focus. Putting things (anythings) on the
BO web-site is no guarantee that everyone (or anyone) will read it (before getting seasick

5 March is when mine arrived too. Subject was "2013 AGM details and papers". If there are problems with emails not arriving the office need to know, so can you guys who haven't had it yet double check and look in spam folders for around 5 March on the email address you gave British Orienteering?

So at least 3 people (on here) now know that the e-mail from BOF went awry.
How many not on here (which constitutes the greater proportion of the membership)
did not receive an e-mail that they don't know they haven't got !!

And what are BO going to do about it ?(I will fire one off to the office but I am one of
how many ?) or does my "are they bothered" comment still apply ?
In case you don't know some service providers (of e-mail) trap "spam" into a spam-box
which doesn't necessarily get downloaded to users PC/laptop/mobile mail-box and can
only be seen using the webmail access route. Some users never access their mail-boxes
using webmail so will never find that it is in the spam-box. (If they know that it happens
or how to access the webmail service(s).)
You can't say "we sent it therefore you must have received it and if you didn't act on it
then it is your fault".

Strangely it was no different in the days of snail mail.

We are certainly bothered about it Mike - that's why BO has sent an email (to the address you gave us), put an item in Focus (sent to the address you gave us), and put an item on the website. Unfortunately BO cannot check whether you've received and read any of those communications, but by using those three different methods I would think that at least one should get through. Me posting on here is in addition to all that, just for the benefit of people that come here more often than the BO website.

Re: British Orienteering AGM 2013
.....about the Focus thing - I didn't tell BOF to send Focus to Dan - I was expecting one of my own and thinking about it - everyone in this family is a member of the National Trust and we all get our own copy of the magazine etc. This is the crucial failing....and why weren't the details sent out with Focus anyway?
I accept that I didn't get the email because i've changed my email address and can't remember how to log on to it

Don't worry Mrs H ~ once you have worked out how to get past the security, it works.
Where it states enter Unsename you actually need to enter your BOF number. A bit "irish" but the process was probable conceived by a Kerryman.
Then you need to remember your system generated password. Thank goodness you are able to change the one that BOF give you so that you have a chance of being able to remember what it is next time.
The hurdles we have to jump through ~ life could be simpler. But it is secure.
