In case you've missed all the publicity...the Euromeeting sprint race will be held at Lossiemouth on Wednesday 31 July, with the international elite running in the afternoon, followed by open men's and women's races on the same courses. There will be a third course suitable for under-16s: non-urban, but still a proper sprint race.
Start slots for the open races are limited to 240 each and beginning to fill up (M 193, W 136) so if you want to run the elite courses you'd best get over to SIEntries asap. Once the limit is reached additional competitors will be diverted onto course 3.
Entry fees are £7 Senior, £4 Junior; all profits will go to the Scottish Elite Development Squad (SEDS) and the Scottish Junior Orienteering Squad (ScotJOS)
For those who care about such things, the Men's course will be (subject to final planning): straight line distance: 2930m, shortest runnable distance: 3520m, IOF official distance: something random and pointless in-between. The Women's course will be shorter.
We understand that some of you southerners may regard Lossiemouth as a long way to come for a sprint race (it's probably the northern-most GB event of the year), so the SOA have kindly agreed to put on a series of races on the days before and after the sprint, just in case you felt like making a holiday of it. Some of the forests they are using are quite nice....

Re: Euromeeting sprint race
Very droll Greywolf. Now that I am a local resident (in Nairn) I am able to put a bit of extra effort into this series of races. Things are looking up for another bridge but more on that later....

That looks a bit low key to me.
If it works, and you put on another sprint race a couple of years later, maybe SOA could consider inviting some of the faster foreigners over to prerun it for us? And perhaps we could put on some forest races too, just for them?
Coming soon
