I assume disqualifications can be made using GPS Routegadget routes?
Noting that Duncan Archer, M35 Clok Course Black ran through the large out of bounds / urban area at the north end of the map.

Re: Tankersley - Middle distance - disqualifications
no.
Can you prove that this runner didn't attach his gps device to a pigeon while he ran around the olive green? I bet that's what happened.
A more sensible reply would be to say that GPS and in particular GPS self-fitting on routegadget mean it's not conclusive. So, no. What would probably need to happen is someone from the organising team would need to contact contact the person in question and ask 'did you go oob?' and disqualify based on answer.
Either way it's really petty, so just ignore it.

You realise it happens to be Duncan's birthday today?
On the subject I've seen my gps trace on google earth run through solid buildings and in rivers and on routegadget it often fails to actually go to controls without a lot of work adjusting -so no you can't dq IMHO

Possibly the slowest Orienteer in the NE but maybe above average at 114kg

Looking at gps tracking on route gadget, it appears far from accurate - that's why I won't use it for mapping until it improves.

My GPS trace has had me through buildings, Buckingham Palace gardens and swimming the Thames at various times.
So, no I wouldn't trust the GPS trace.

Normally I'd agree with this, but if you look at this specific example it is pretty exact for every single control site.
I would have thought the more pressing issue was that anyone can upload a route to routegadget in anyone else's name.

Whenever I've loaded a GPS trace onto Route Gadget I've had to make SO many amendments to get it to fit my actual route that it's just not worth doing!

Not having a gps gadget, I was astonished watching a friend upload his route to see just how much manipulation was required to put it up.
Routegadget is great fun - but proof of absolutely nothing.

It isnt 'petty' if the competitor did go out of bounds.

You are obviously unhappy. Personalities shouldn't come into it (although Duncan isn't the sort of person I'd expect to break rules even unintentionally) and most of us gave rational reasons why the "evidence" might be faulty.
btb I mentioned his natal day only because of the coincidence.
You have the right to make a complaint/protest to the organiser -and the initial request "to look at the issue" should be free - If you feel there is a valid case you should do so

Go on Nooomember, make a complaint, and let us know how you get on. Keep us posted!
Personally I have complete trust that DA did the course properly, and I am very grateful that he has posted his route so that I and others, no doubt, can perhaps learn something from it and improve our own orienteering. Thanks DA.

Re: Tankersley - Middle distance - disqualifications
Thanks to those who gave me the benefit of the doubt. But sadly the GPS doesn't lie. I admit I ran through what was marked as olive green on the map. Disqualify me? Sadly it is the same debate that often comes up in sprint/urban O, that the map wasn't an accurate representation of the ground, leading to confusion, and inadvertent straying into OOB (or the similar case of crossing not-to-be-crossed boundaries). In this case the bit of ground marked with olive green could not be described as "Houses and gardens and other built up areas" (as ISOM symbol 527: "Settlement" says), I think most would agree it was "rough open". Had it been mapped as such (with OOB hatching), I don't think I'd have gone that way. Anyway I ended up very confused at the far end (along with several other similarly confused orienteers!), and definitely no time gained from this excursion...
