Ha Ha Ha been too busy finalising this month's ad Hoc (In which nope features quite heavily) to get to the colours - only kidding - look out for Neville's new Avatar.....coming soon I said to Mr H. "if only you'd been there to see young neville running in" and there he is at the end of the video - surreal

Thanks Wattok, yeah that would be great to get some extra training in anytime!
Is that Stew? If so, you did a great job along with the Nope crew too.

I want to walk up the side of the mountain, I want to walk down the other side of the mountain. I want to swim in the river, lie in the sun. I want to try being nice to everyone.

adn thanks for all the big-ups on the planning front. it was only the second proper event iv planned (though iv planned many many training exercises) and i thought it was great. callendar park was a great area for making fun, spectator friendly courses.
while it was only my second planning attempt, i have run hundreds of relays, and i know what makes them exciting - the head to head racing, rather than the actual orienteering, so i tried to incorporate this into the planning, with a few points where you would be able to see who was ahead or behind you - eg controls 94-97-91, where half the courses went straight to 97 then 91, while the other half had 94 first then skipped 91, so that you might catch someone up at 97 but then lose them again.... there were similar features on the girls course as well, on the short uphill legswhere both gaffles visited 93&94 but in opposite orders, i know a few w16s got caught out by this and followed the pack to the wrong one! punishment for following haha!
im gutted about the bracken, especially on the boys courses. when we finalised the courses 10 days before the race the bracken was there but it was about knee height and didnt hinder running in anyway - however the mild wet weather last week caused it to shoot up and when i went back last friday it was twice as dense and three times as high! i tried to clear a few paths but theres only so much you can do. and i swear it grew another 6 inches on saturday! im surprised all the M14s made it back!
how did the 16s, especially guys, like the first controls? i loved the idea of the mass start charging straight into the 'maze' bit behind the house, guttingly they chopped half of it down about 3 onths ago, but it was fun nonetheless i bet!
and finally, i had a burn up around the m18 course on friday, just to test how fast it could go. kyle got the best time on sunday with 36 minutes, want to guess who cquickly i got round - pm me and the nearest guess wins the prizes we didnt give away on sunday (yes there were some - samsonite completely forgot abotu them!)

Yeah, the first loop on m16 was great, as because it was done differently on each course, both doing those 2 controls but in a different order meant that one group was ahead even though they shudn't have been
but on some legs it was too obvious which gaffle people were going on, the only complaint!

The gaffling on m16 exiting because around the flats it was hard to tell if you were actually in the lead or not. Then when you were thrown into the forest you started meeting others which confused you more. This helped the race because you always had to presume you were chasing someone.
i only found out me and dave were leading when it was called out at the spectator.
it was great fun to run in and my only complaint is that scotland didn't win.but you can't have everything.
