Silva tree decoration at Polnaise
My Silva headtorch is dangling somewhere on a tree after the FVO Night event at Polnaise. The battery connection failed again and the unit was stuffed down the back of my O-top (where else can you put them?) as I went onto backup Petzl Tikka power. Sometime during proceedings it must have been ripped off in the light green. If anyone fancies a run out there it is in the west end of the area (near Control 2 which I never found). I have now joined the "battle of the lights" with the Magicshine 872 from Brightbikelights but wouldn't mind my old headtorch back. What else is there to do with a 6V 9Ah battery and charger?

I'll keep an eye out, going to try it in daylight tomorrow seeing as I failed to finish at night! I seem to have lost a sock.

You can have mine
Dropped (indoor) from waist height on to my floor and won't work no more. I'll put it in the same box as my two Silva magnifiers that did not survive my reasonably slow descent to the forest floor last year.
My choice of one of from three LED torches (a fiver, all three) has been excellent these last few moonless nights. Castor and Pollux, Jupiter, and that beastie up a tree beside the old railway line in Appin all did well.

Sorry Colin, had a look around some of the trees in that area but no joy I'm afraid. Did find my sock though (and the control sites)!

Thanks for looking - slightly mystified as to how it is possible to lose a sock?

I suppose it depends on where the sock is ; used as mitten, on head or "to intimidate opponents" -surely couldn't be inside a shoe?
Possibly the slowest Orienteer in the NE but maybe above average at 114kg
