The 2013 British Night Championships (BNC) will be held at Tankersley Woods, Sheffield and hosted by South Yorkshire Orienteers.

Registration: Pre-entry via Fabian4.co.uk until Sunday 13th January 2013, although there may be a short extension dependent on map printing deadlines.

That's 4 weeks before race day! I suppose there must be a level A/offset litho printing factor in play here, as I always find a week is ample when using digital printing.

Also I note that first start is supposed to be 5.30. Sunset time that day is just after 5. There used to be a BOF rule (or maybe it was a guideline) that said first start should be at least an hour after sunset. When organising last month's Southern Nights I tried looking for it and couldn't find it. Even if it has been deleted you should prepare yourself for an unseemly rush to grab first start time.

We've done this one on here several times before (every year?). If you want to know when it will get dark, looking up the time of the end of nautical twilight is generally a better guide than picking an arbitrary length of time after sunset. For Tankersley on 9th Feb 2013, nautical twilight ends at 6.23pm. It'll generally get properly dark within the woods a little earlier than that, depending on how thick the tree cover is.

Is that the same Tankersley Woods, Sheffield that were used for the British Relays in May 2011?
