Happy New Year!.....or not now I've found out the cost of BOC entries. £19 in January, £21 Feb and March then £25 Also a 'steady' half hour walk to relay assembly - what does that mean?

Come and run TioMila relay instead - only 30 mins from Stockholms Arlanda airport. It is a good year to run TioMila for various reasons, convenience being one!

Compared to last year in the Lakes:

£19 until 11/02 then
£24 until 19/03 then
£29 until 15/04
(but this did include the £4 bus fare)

"steady half hour walk" by a M55 (and seperately by a M60) without rushing or
dawdling, but without the signage that competitors will have. The distance is about 2k
(+/-) with some climb.

When are the entries actually going to open anyway?
First we were told that it was the 21st December, then 1st Jan, then 2nd Jan, then 3rd Jan!
Why don't they just pick a date that they can manage and stick to it.

Sorry about that, last minute hiccoughs. Entries are now open, some people
have already entered.

Any info about postal entries?

There will be an address for postal entries on the appropriate pages shortly
and a note will be put on this forum to indicate when it is available.
(Pre-entries via Fabian are preferred (but not compulsory))

A 20% increase in entry fees.... Lets see what happens to any profit, or are Bof,s costs too high? Oh, is this a Bof run event?
Its not really financially feasable to expect people to travel over 100 miles from anywhere north of Watford for both the jk and British on top of accommodation costs, or is this sport becoming exclusively for the well off?

oh my, over 100 miles, what is the world coming to! Given these are national events I think you'll find the average orienteer who goes to both travelling way more than 100miles per event on average.

North of Watford? If you live in, say, Sheffield, the combined round trips to last year's JK and British (Pitlochry and Ravenglass) were more than to this year's (Reading and Guildford).

If you live in Scotland your complaint may have some justification - but anybody from the Southern regions could have made the same complaint last year. The British and JK move around, every year it is a long way to go for somebody, and the best place to live in the long term (as far as travelling to major orienteering events is concerned, anyway) is probably somewhere round Manchester/Leeds/Sheffield.

BOC 2014 will be (if we get the agreement with BOF to make sense) up here in NEOA on a mostly new area that has the potential to be very interesting (1st plug - expect many more!) shorter journey than the South of England for the Scots and nearer than Scotland for the English.
