Wow that was some event. Really unfortunate that the FC who want to charge extortionate fees because they have to check forest working plans proved unable to keep the loggers out of the forest prior to AND on the day of the event.

There is a fantastic set of photos linked to the Clyde results page giving a very unbiased view of the forest in its variety. I look pretty knackered in a gorgeous bit of forest, but I'd already been through plenty like the next and subsequent photos, and I hadn't even finished part 1 yet

I think it's one of the best O shots I've seen in ages, really captures the moment. And yes the mud was as bad as it looked, I've never seen extraction lanes like it. I made one route choice to follow a track to my attack point, when I got there it looked like that or worse! I chose the terrain alongside instead.

Glad you liked my photos - as Controller it seemed the best way to get a feel as to what was going on in the forest and why Eddie and others were out for so long.

Orienteering are missing an opportunity here.
Use this photo as advertising for the next event, give it a suitably catchy name -'Mudbath' or similar - and raise the entry fees to £100?

Our forest at Dalguise for next weekend has had some windblow but at least the roads aren't muddy and there are no extraction lanes. The usable area of many Scottish forests seems to keep shrinking. It wouldn't be so bad the FC wanting to charge us for access if they'd tidy up after themselves a bit more and not leave the forest in such a mess.
