Moray 2013 Live filming and production
We have funding agreed from eventScotland for Moray 2013 to cover both a promo video and actual live filming/production at the event. This is part of their International Programme aimed at increasing visitor numbers and raising the profile of Scotland. The budget doesn't stretch to outside broadcast but the intention is we will try a mix of big screen, commentary, radio controls, GPS and autodownload. Oban 2011 was a first try, we want to improve on this. I have found a local company for the promo video bit (subject to contract) and have a few freelance cameramen who could be employed at sensible day rates to do live filming next year. I have struggled to find film companies who understand what might be required or who will come in at the budget available. I am open to ideas/offers/suggestions (through PM if necessary). I thought some sort of "production" would suit a media student or similar who wants some good hands-on work experience to add to their CV. Knowledge of orienteering is a big plus but we might get some interesting perspectives from outside our rather narrow sphere of thinking. Incidentally sunlit forres's Forest Jump film makers will be pressed into service for the promo video I hope. Opportunities exist to get involved with WOC2015, but probably under direction of an IOF-recommended outfit.

Jonny Hooton might be interested. He made this.

In terms of final production I believe that this coverage should be the minimum standard you are aiming for:

And that this is a reasonable preview video:

Re: Moray 2013 Live filming and production
Hi,
It was myself who created that film for part of my university course.
I am a 3rd year studying TV & Film production and would love to hear more information about what it is you are after etc. As this is my final year I am unsure as to where I will be this summer at the moment but I am definitely willing to help on this and feel I have some good experience from my course and other work experience that I may be able to offer you on this project.
If still interested please do not hesitate to contact me!
Thank you,
Jonathon

Wont his travel expenses be a bit steep or does that thing have extra long life batteries?

As it happens I have been in contact with a man who flies a GT450 microlight and if he can get a new part for his wing we could be in business for some Go Pro footage.

Take a look at this video which is from a link on their facebook page, some amazing shots of forest from above, this is what we should be aiming for!

Some of the best footage I have seen of forests is in the film "A lonely place to die" starring the lovely pouting Melissa George (Hunted). I discovered the forests were actually around Rogie and we seriously looked at the area for WOC2015. Other footage was around Achilty, and the Scatwell Estate. I even found out which helicopter company was involved. All very nice but all very out of our league budget wise.

Good news - Jimmy went up in the microlight yesterday and apparently they got some stunning images of the Moray area. Not bad for £200. The forest jump guys have been kitted out with Go Pro cameras and will be running wild this week. Look forward to seeing the results on a small screen soon.

Another option for aerial pics ?
meanwhile Harry and WeeJ have been checking the "uncrossable" walls in one of the WOC embargoed areas...

Re: Moray 2013 Live filming and production
Very pleased to confirm we have secured the services of Karel Jonak and his Czech film crew to provide live arena coverage for four days of Moray 2013 including Euromeeting. We would welcome involvement from anyone else who might like to get involved in technical/production aspects of filming with the possibility of involvement at WOC 2015 too. Don't forget to get your early bird entry in today.

Excellent, will be good to see what they come up with. They did EOC 2012 and that looked pretty slick with the all info overlayed. If we have a big screen at the assembly it will be fun to watch.
Freefall have you spoken to Visit Scotland yet and invited them to come up to the event?Their global marketing campaigns always look really good with stunning panoramic shots showing Scotland at it's best, and folk enjoying activities in different locations. Maybe they would be interested in getting some pictures or videos for future advertising? Just a thought.

Re: Moray 2013 Live filming and production
Funding from Event Scotland has made this possible and they are the sister organisation of Visit Scotland. Intention is that we can get footage for use in a WOC 2015 campaign too. Just sorting out the big screen now....
