Almost that time again... who's going to win? Who's going to win the girlie version? How many Brit clubs have got a team together?
Driving around Ring 3 yesterday you wouldn't think Jukola was about to happen... no signs that I could see [but I'm a blind barsteward!]

SYO has two teams going (one Venla, one Jukola).
Only a week till we're out there, and I can't decide whether I'm more excited about the maps, or the event song.
The maps make it quite clear that "Training in these areas is forbidden", but apparently it was OK to hold the Finnish EOC selection races on them a few weeks ago.
Martin Ward, SYO (Chair) & SPOOK.

Er, no. Why don't you check the embargo. Whilst their test events may have been on one of the old maps that covers large parts of the embargo, they did not run in the forbidden area.

Keep your eyes open for Team Cochrane. The team is made up entirely of the seven Cochrane family members (including recent-ish recruit Emma).
We're a bit disappointed to have been overlooked for the top 20 teams wearing GPS, although in fairness we've never run together before so it's a forgivable oversight from the organisers.

Let the organisers know - they might well give you some publicity as the Jukola race is based on some Finnish story about the "Seven brothers Jukola" - so a family team might click!

Having been given, in error, one of the 10 GPS for the first leg of a recentish night relay, trust me when I say you are better off without it as everyone can see how much slower you are than the elite boys.
The errors was by the organisers who picked the 10 top ranked runners from the BOF rankings for the GPS tracking and then didn't change the allocation to teams when we swapped our running order and substituted the number 27 ranked with number 727

Just to add to the mix, Bristol OK have two Jukola teams and two Venla teams.

A record high number of teams will be competing in Hakunila, Vantaa on 16-17 June.
A total of 1266 women’s relay teams have registered to compete in the Venla race and 1686 in men’s Jukola!! The 16,866 orienteerers registered makes Valio-Jukola 2012 the largest sports event of the year in Finland.
Wow

Falling over on first leg at the Scottish would have been pretty bad, hate to think what it'd be like at Jukola!
