Less than a week to go to the JK, and with the top seeds going off last the elite sprint race should be pretty exciting. But what's this? ...only one Englander seeded in either top five? and that's Edinburgh Interlopers' own Ant Squire!
Will the seeder's Edinburgh vs Scandiweigan duopoly come true?
1 Murray Strain
2 Scott Fraser
3 Jonas Juveli
4 Anthony Squire
5 Per Harald Johansen
1 Claire Ward
2 Krista Mihailova
3 Tessa Hill
4 Linnea Gustaffson
5 Hollie Orr

I must be getting old. I've never even heard of Juveli, Johansen or Mihailova..
But I'm counting on Street or Kris Jones to make the top 5..

Re: Edinburghers and weigies
Further bad news for Englanders I'm afraid.
The sponsors and council are very keen to promote Scottish sport, so I hear that the decision has been made that the elite prizes will go to Scottish orienteers only. The BOF medals will, of course, be available to whoever is fastest.
Not sure I agree with that, but I don't suppose it will make any difference in practice.

Re: Edinburghers and weigies
Apparently the definition of "Scottish" is any one or more of the below:
- born in Scotland
- live in Scotland
- have Scottish parents, grandparents or great-grandparents
- have visited Scotland at least twice
- like Scotland more than England

Use the Tebbit test: who do you support when Scotland are playing England at cricket?
Ah, OK then, maybe that's not such a good test.
