Oh yes, so I did, sorry. I'll stick by my points though even if they're not really a reply (See JDs thread).
Well, the reason it isn't the British Champs for all is that the BOC rotates round the regions so it only comes to Scotland once a decade, even though Scotland has more forest than England. When it is NE turn they just have to do their best with what they have, and Simonside very probably was their best.
Frustration with this led to the BEOC/BOC split in the first place.
Would be interested to hear whether the vets age classes would be interested in having middle and sprint races. I'm sure most of them have never done a sprint / middle in their lives.
Writing as a token vet not yet acting my age ... I'm not really interested in middle and short races, having travelled to an event I'd prefer my 60-90mins of exercise. I think most vets just enjoy running in the woods and aren't so bothered about the competitive aspect emphasised in short winning time races.
Street-O is a different thing which I think we could make more use of as a recruitment option for road runners who can navigate but have yet to be convinced of the joys of brambles.
