Re: March in the Marches
Anybody else noticed that the M50s are running further than the M40s and W21Es on the Midland Champs day?! Guidelines suggest 15% shorter (than the M40s)! It's also almost 2k longer than M55! Could be a challenging day!

Yes Awk but you have less climb than the M40s and a map that's easier to read - man-up

All of 10m. And as an M40, I found the 1:15k perfectly readable, indeed easier to see shapes etc; it was only at M45 did I find the maps harder (now impossible!) to read.
However, planner has kindly explained that the issue has been primarily with the M40L course which has had to be shortened a bit owing to late changes in control site availability.

Aren't the elites supposed to start at least 4 minutes apart on a long race?

Sunday morning travel - Hereford roadworks
Sunday Travel Warning
The A4103 across the north of Hereford will be CLOSED on Sunday for roadworks, we believe between the A465 and the A4110.
All traffic will have to go via Hereford City Centre.
Hereford traffic is normally light on a Sunday morning, but the combination of the Midlands Championships and the road closure will undoubtedly increase volumes.
Please allow extra time.

I've also noticed a lack of seeding on my course.

I don't think there's a specified minimum separation for M/W21E courses at area champs, but M21E seem to be in a block at 5min intervals and W21E in a block at 4min intervals. As the Long start interval at BOC and the JK is 3min, that seems fine to me.
M/W20/18E are supposed to be at minimum 2min intervals for Long races, with a minimum of 4min between any two seeded competitors. The first part of that appears to have been followed; I haven't seen the junior seeding list for this year but have no reason to assume that the second part hasn't been as well.

Received from Fabian4 :
Sent: 08 March 2012 23:08
Subject: Midland Championships - Sunday 11 March
Please would Elite competitors check their start times as we have made some changes to conform to seeding requirements.
Please also note that locals who are better-informed than anyone using the Highways Agency or Herefordshire CC websites advise that a stretch of the A4103 (not the A49) will be closed on Sunday. Diversion route is through Hereford city centre, but it's normally quiet on a Sunday morning. http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?x=35 ... 42100&lm=0
Weather forecast sounds good for both Malvern and Foxley events so we are looking forward to a great weekend and welcoming you to Worcestershire and Herefordshire.

If it has then the junior seeding list must be very exclusive.

Re: March in the Marches
I believe the junior seeding list is usually about six/seven boys and a similar number of girls from each year of birth, so yes, it is a fairly small number of competitors. As I suspect that there are several people on it for this year who won't be going to Midland Champs, the number of seeded runners on the startlist may be relatively small.
