This is coming up fast (December 4th) with a couple of regions yet to hold their qualifiers, but I'm struggling to find who has qualified from where so far, despite a half hour trawl of results and websites.
I'm sure the results are being notified to HALO as they come in, so no problems there, but I conclude that Nopesport may be the quickest route for Joe Bloggs to get this info.
So far I think it's OD, HOC, DEVON, SYO, NOC, SO, HH but I couldn't find the NWOA YBT table or decide how many teams are going through as runners up to the top 5 last year (OD, LOC, Sarum, Dee and HH). Are LOC and WCOC both through?
Apologies to any website owners who think they've made it obvious...

Re: YBT final 2011
Thanks Clive, that's one I should have been able to work out from the very good Rowney Warren results, after I'd visited the BOF news archive to find out the top five from last year.
Browsing around for results has left me seriously impressed by the number of teams some clubs turned out for their rounds. Clearly some very good junior development going on around the country.
Good to have a thread on this great competition anyway, any thoughts on who might win this year?

2nd year running for SuffOC - not bad for one of the smallest English clubs - and the rest of the club is rather proud of the efforts put in by our juniors and their coaches and teachers.

SUFFOC qualified on two counts! Coming second to a club placed in the top 5 at last year's final in a qualifying round containing at least 3 complete teams, also gains them a place in the final.
I am really proud of the SUFFOC juniors, beating WAOC on home territory too!

Re: YBT final 2011
you are really justified in feeling proud of SUFFOC. A few years ago on here, a poster, I think it was PorkyFatBoy, was lamenting the small size of the club. Is one of you a re-incarnation of PFB?
I should be cheering for SUFFOC too (after HOC that is) First orienteered in some big score events for youth groups in Thetford Chase around 1967-69, when i was a bored, sport-loving teenager from a Suffolk village (sighs)

Does anyone know who will be coming from the NW?

I was "Planner on the day" for the NE round at Wallington and CLOK won the two horse race against NATO there.
Possibly the slowest Orienteer in the NE but maybe above average at 114kg

North West round was won by Lakeland with West Cumberland second. Looking forward to some top competition for the juniors

Will this make any difference to your planning?

Re: YBT final 2011
From the BO website:
Results for each round are as follows:
SEOA – SO go through.
NWOA – LOC won & WCOC go through as LOC were in the top 5 in the 2010 final.
EAOA – HH won but SUFFOC also go through as HH in top 5 in the 2010 final and also not in EAOA.
WMOA – OD won & HOC also go through as OD in top 5 in the 2010 final.
NEOA – CLOK won.
YHOA – SYO won.
EMOA – NOC won.
SWOA – DEVON go through.
WOA – Dee won and POW go through as DEE were in the top 5 in the 2010 final and also not in WOA.
SCOA – SN go through.
I think we have all the runners and riders.
Interesting comment next to DEE. If DEE had not been in top 5 would they have qulaified from the Welsh round? or would POW not have qualified?

Re: YBT final 2011
DEE won the heat, so qualified regardless of how they performed last year. POW were second, but also qualify under clause 4.3.3 of YBT rules
"In matches with 3 or more complete teams, for each qualifying team which
finished in the top 5 in the Final in the previous year an extra qualifying place
will be provided. No extra qualifying place will be provided if the 'top 5' team
does not automatically qualify by virtue of its finishing position in the match."
Even if DEE hadn't finished in the top 5 last year, POW would have also qualified under clause 4.3..4
" If any association is not represented in the Final after 4.3.2 and 4.3.3, then the
highest scoring club from that Association from any Preliminary Round match
will qualify, as long as they fielded a complete team."
I guess SUFFOC qualified in a similar manner.

I think that clubs should compete in their own region, also at Compass Sport Cup, and not 'work the system' as their only means of qualifying. Discuss.
