Re: Licence to Control
Well it would be easier to forget if BOF stopped sending out e-mails telling us to forget it - Mr H has had 3 in the last 2 hours but on the other hand he might be one of the one's mentioned in the email who really is up for the chop and shouldn't ignore it - how will he ever know? He doesn't know how to log in and he doesn't read nopesport very often!

Re: Licence to Control
I've never logged on to the BOF website. I occasionally look at the public facade and also have no idea of my BOF number. Poor show I know, but I guess I'm like many others
Diets and fitness are no good if you can't read the map.

Re: Licence to Control
Oh for goodness' sake. A small computer glitch meant that BOF accidentally sent out some false reminders, which they rapidly corrected. So, I received 3 messages, so what? It happens. Move on. (And nobody in BOF was "commenting" Gross - these were simple reminders designed to help you - not that any of us have ever needed reminding about anything have we? ).

Re: Licence to Control
Quite right AWK ~ we need to close this debate and move on.
When I started the thread it appeared that BOF were implementing something without giving due thought to the consequences. I should have suspected another computer glitch but I took the email which was forwarded to me as meaning what it said.
It appears from private emails that I exchanged yesterday that one of our hardworking orienteering colleagues has been beavering away behind the scenes updating the Course attendance and licencing records and intended to announce what was happening in due course once the data was clean and up to date. She, like us, is very put out and depressed that someone in the IT set-up delivered some code that in turn initiated the email.
IT types live in a world of their own ~ they don't necessarily understand OUR administrative requirements or the consequences of their actions. If you don't check and test thoroughly before releasing software they can mess up any process. And they do ! But we can't have a computer system without them.
What's done is done. We are running IT support and development on a shoe string ~ glitches will happen. From what I can see, these new facilities look to be very useful ~ it's sad that they have been announced by mistake before the work was completed.
Try loging in on to your BOF members page. Not only can you check your Qualifications and licences but you can also pre-select the newsletters that you would like to receive in the future. As yet the only newsletter available is one from the Fixtures chair ~ I am sure that in time the production of more targeted newsletters will be made available.

Re: Licence to Control
An old thread here mentioned that you can check your qualifications and licenses on the BOF website after logging in.
As it turns out I am an expired controller as of the beginning of this year...
No mention of any planning or organising licenses.
