Roger and Ann Smith LOC are keep to organise a 'not for profit' bus/coach trip to the 2012 WMOC in order to keep things green. To keep things cheap, they need as many people as possible to join in the plans. (You dont have to be with the Global O Tours lot to sign up for the bus transport). This is open to anyone.
You can contact Ann & Roger at roger.smith100 (at) btinternet.com or numbers below
This is the latest news from them...
Dear Orienteer
You have expressed interest in travelling to the World Masters Orienteering Championships 2012, by bus from the UK
At present, this is speculative on my part. It very much depends on how much interest arises. Currently, there are 9 of us.
What I am in the process of doing is getting prices for various alternatives.
e.g.
A 30 seater coach
A 20 seater coach
A nine seater minibus - self drive.
Once I have these prices, and have given time for more people to express an interest( waiting, say, until after the next Compass Sport has been circulated ), I can come back to you with proposals.
It is my intention to run the thing on a non-profit basis. Basically, just a group of people sharing the cost of transport.
If anyone has any suggestions/comments/questions please get in touch.
Otherwise, can I ask you to be patient for a few weeks and I will be back in touch.
Best wishes
Roger Smith

Re: Green Travel to WMOC 2012 - Germany - by coach!
SOT organised a coach to WMOC in DEnmark some years ago & it was well supported by GB orienteers....
I guess if Ann originates the coach in the Lakes & travels via the main city pickup points it'll work well... particularly with campers as you can take more kit....
Good luck
