Today is, I think, the last day for entries to the White Rose - it sounds fantastic so what are you waiting for - unless you want to spend that Bank holiday at B and Q

Rumour has it there are 40 ODs going but don't let that put you off. HOC are running their usual family competition - which will involve lots of heated debate over several bottles of wine as to the scoring system.

And then of course there's the quiz........as holders of the tite we are feeling the pressure already.

The maps have gone to the printers and I'll be spending the next few days clearing a bit of bracken and nettles (hardly any brambles this year) and putting our controls. Great new area for day one which I think people will really like (only for short blue and longer I'm afraid but also being used for the night score): runnable moorland with nice technical old quarry areas and fast forest with the most bizarre "crags" ever. I'll get a photo on here some time. The shorter courses have one of those weird experimental planting areas - like urban racing in York except it's narrow rides and branches rather than snickleways and tourists. And I'm looking forward to competing in the sprint - no idea where it is (except by the campsite) but I'm sure it'll be great - maybe round the cow sheds and pig sties....??

Follyfoot, I don't know who you are, but I just wish to make it clear that as everyone that knows me will know, I don't think EBOR is corrupt, and I know they will put on an excellent weekend of orienteering at the White Rose. Being 1000s of miles away I won't be able to attend, which is unfortunate.

I hope you realise that your mildly threatening PMs about getting our facts straight is simply making the whole thing more compelling.

Me too! But you can go to the White Rose to sort them out! I have to wait till September for the oppressive heat to disappear before I can get near a map. Boo!

I'm back for the my 2nd White Rose, came last year to see if my step kids would enjoy it, and since I did - they are being dragged along too (not really they've packed already. LOL)

I'm not going to win anything, but am going to have an enjoyable weekend whatever the weather and however bad I do!!!!

Just hope I don't get lost on the way - like last year!
