It's great that the final details are now available. I am now looking forward to the event. However I am disappointed in the format. As the details are not being posted in advance I am sure that many people will want to print them off in advance. Whilst I support the use of less paper, many of the general public do not have access to A3 printers.
I have just selected the individual day information and printed it onto 2 A4 pages, but is more hassle. Now that i have skim read a couple of them I am even more disappointd to find that there is no grid reference for the parking! I have just bought my OS map of Oban and I haven't got a clue where the Glen Lonan road is, for instance. I presume that the GRs are on the website, but then I will have to go to look them up and write them down somewhere. It is not ideal.
Perhaps it would have been nicer if you could have published the individual day information (incluing grid references) on seperate sheets - we could then have printed 2 to an A4 sheet to save paper if necessary.
Disapponted!

Wow, the whole Programme on 2 sides of A3, that's innovative!
It looks like you're supposed to fold it along 6 vertical creases and 3 horizontal ones into something resembling an OS map. But only if you have access to an A3 colour printer...

The "front" page, top right of the map has GR and lat/long co-ordinates which, although I haven't checked, will probably prove to be helpful

STOP, STOP,STOP
The option to download a copy of the programme was to look at it on screen and get a feel for it.
It was NEVER intended that people would print it out, you don't need to, EVERY competitor will be given a pre folded copy when they collect their bibs etc.
It does say that on the website, how much clearer can I make it?
The whole idea is and to get the information reduced down to the bare essentials (which many have requested in the past) and to reduce the amount of paper going to landfill.
The website will contain more details and information and be constantly updated, so if you really do want to print out the whole 9 yards don't print it until the very last minute, or it will be out of date.
More people now have access to the web via mobile phones, tablets, laptops etc. and I have tried to ensure that the website adapts to whatever device or screen size it is viewed on (try resizing your browser window to see what happens).
If anyone is having problems with a particular device let me know, with screenshots to show the problem if possible.

The grid ref, postcode and lat/long are also at the top of every day information page on the website along with a Google map you can click on for an interactive map.
If you print any of the day info pages it should only print the main text and none of the headers, footers or photos. It may depend on which browser you use as to how well this works, but I've tweaked the code to improve cross-browser issues that I'm aware of. But as I said above don't print anything until the last minute if you want to get any updates.
That's the advantage of the web, we can respond to last minute changes, which is why we are trying to move to this more dynamic medium and get people to stop thinking about print as the best/only solution.
Print will not go away soon for the basic essential info, but it is loosing the battle for content consumption, Amazon US now sells more books as downloads rather than print.

I'm not sure that qualifies as a device, but the printed and folded version will fit.

Yes, but we have to get tothe place to collect the bibs etc - I want to be able to read it before I travel up to Scotland next Sunday so I can work out departure times etc in advance. I will be camping and access to a computer is tricky. The bit with the grid references was not on the bits I printed - I wanted the individual days info, and so now I've got to select some other bit I need.
I would have been extremely happy with the 2 sides of A3 if you had posted it to me - perhaps with my training maps!

But the map and details showing where the collection point is is not in the programme, it's only on the website.
As you said, you wanted to read it, you don't have to print it to read it.
With regard you planning departure times etc. you should be aware that I'm just getting details of significant road works planned for the road from Connel to Oban during the week of the event. Keep an eye on the website for more details.
The programme has not even been printed yet, to allow it to be as up to date as possible, and only a handful of people had training maps posted to them.

Paul I appreciate the intentions but Sunday morning just before the first race (unless i make a 50 mile detour to Dalmally

With a bit of play in Potatoshop I've shuffled it around into a 4 page A4 pdf and printed it already

Re: Scottish 6 day final details
But all you needed to do was print the Day 1 page from the website, then pick up your programme at the event.
Another reason for going down this route was also to save the cost in money and volunteers time of posting out the programme. The cost of putting events like this are getting higher and higher, but competitors don't want to pay increased entry fees.

Re: Scottish 6 day final details
Any feedback on the map I produced would be most welcome - I can knock something together like this very easily now using the free OS data sets (Strategii for most of this). I used nearby.org.uk for postcodes and lat/long and any errors are transcription. Remember postcodes can cover quite a big area so don't drive over our new footbridge using your SatNav.

Re: Scottish 6 day final details
Can anyone shed any light on the start times - Miss H - who is running non-comp in my class as she has a bed knee - has been put in a completely different start block to me. i thought this might be because she was on the bus but the boy she is travelling with is in the same block as me - not her. Have i done something wrong somewhere along the line?

Love the idea of the concise summary sheets but please can we have it in A4 format so we can print out beforehand. It shouldn't take you too long to reformat.
Thanks in advance.

Buzz
It's very late and it's been a very long day and I probably shouldn't respond but...
Read the stuff above, you don't need to print it, you will be given a copy.
You can read it on screen if you want to know what it says.
Or if you really want to print it out on A4 and use a magnifying glass.
Reformatting into an A4 format is not going to happen, it took long enough to get where we are.
Why are people so obsessed with wanting to print it out themselves, when a perfectly good copy will be given to them?
I'm beginning to wish I hadn't made it available to download in the first place.
